As this search has progressed since black Monday, I am starting to believe that Beane might just be retained. If I were one of these executives interested in taking a GM job with another team, the coaching situation would absolutely be a concern of mine. It's similar what is happening with the Jets' search for a GM replacement. Finding someone to gel with Rivera has to be easier than finding one who can gel with Rex Ryan, however. I just have a hard time believing that I could be expected to rebuild a franchise, and not be able to start with bringing in my own coaching staff. Add that to the Panthers' cap situation and even speaking as a fan, I don't think that the team will be able to hire Ross or Gamble. I only began researching the candidates once Hurney was fired, so I have to disclose that I probably don't know as much about the situation as some of you. I like Marc Ross for the job, but the team is going to have to sell him on something. |

Steve Keim got promoted in Arizona.
Jaguars picked up David Caldwell who we weren't looking at.
Looks like it is down to Marc Ross, Dave Gettleman, Brandon Beane, George Paton, Jim Popp, and Lake Dawson.
Supposedly we met with Ross and Gettleman today. We sure do have a lot of GM candidates compared to other teams. I thought Accorsi was going to narrow it down for us... _________________

I really think this is a good job for a GM. There is loads of potential on this team, and the talent is there to be in the playoffs, we just got to put it together. I think this would attract good GM's to us.
I really hope that we hire Marc Ross. Our pass rush is very good, something similar to what they had in NY with the Giants, and build the defense off that. If he had anything to do with the draft picks of the Giants these past few years, his resume is pretty damn good. |
