I think its just to give Akers a heads up, like "hey mofo, step it up or step aside." Dunno, just guessing. But this sucks, because I trust Akers more than Cundiff, but don't really trust either of them. :sigh:

This. Motivation nothing more. Then again Harbaugh did replace QB's when it wasn't warranted so who knows. I think it would be hilarious if Akers is replaced and Billy pulls a Cundiff costing them the game in the playoffs.

If anything, it was just a wide left move by the 9ers Front Office. Just didn't see that one coming!
Question though...
Has any kicker missed wide left in back to back years in an AFC and NFC championship game? That would be an awesome feat.
