|
The Seattle Seahawks had a tryout with a handful of kickers at the team’s Renton headquarters today, and veteran Ryan Longwell apparently came out as the winner. According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Seattle plans to sign Longwell to the team’s active roster as insurance with Seattle’s starter Steven Hauschka nursing a lower calf strain.
The 15-year veteran did not play for any NFL team during the regular season. He was released by Minnesota a couple weeks after the Vikings drafted Blair Walsh in April.

we'll see if Ryan still has any leg left. _________________

Surprised it took this long. Doesn't have a big leg at all. But dude was money from anything under 50 most of the time. Can't believe Olindo Mare got signed first _________________

^^ Longwell played it craftily though. didn't have to work during the season, didn't have to travel, be away from his family. could work on his golf game.
now he shows up for the playoff run. at the most he'll play three games and could come up with a Super Bowl ring.

I said the same thing to myself when the Dolphins signed Kaeding.
Good to see Longwell finally find a new home. I wish him the best of luck. I'm curious as to who the other kickers they tried out were. Anyone know? |

Crud! Now I can't decide if I want Seattle making the Super Bowl on a Longwell FG after Cundiff misses on for the Niners in OT... or on a last second Hail Mary from Russell Wilson to Golden Tate for a TD in Lambeau.
I'm so conflicted!
(For the record, either way I still want the Hawks to lose in the Super Bowl in the event of either outcome... just so I can troll SOS. ) _________________

Seahawks have informed kicker Steven Hauschka that he'll be placed on Injured Reserve, out for rest of season (calf). _________________

Not a bad signing for Seattle. Longwell's been a decent kicker for a few seasons in the NFL. _________________ Why, if it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg. With a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg. |

If he have enough leg strength left, this is a solid signing. _________________

I'm happy for him. The "Seattle Vikings" are a good team.
I wonder if they'll have him do Kickoff. He was terrible last year with it. _________________

we will probably use P Jon Ryan on kickoffs. He did it when Haush went out last week and did a pretty decent job. _________________

oh yeah, I watched the game.
but Ryan did seem to get a few lucky bounces for him. I don't remember him booming any into the endzone. _________________
