Eh, football and politics go hand in hand. Usually it's the team that winds up calling the shots. |

I've always found it odd that the Washington Bullets had to go through a name change but the Redskins didn't. That being said, I've see a few different polls of native American people and they always come out that 85-90% of them don't find these names offensive at all and only about 5% find them offensive enough that they need changed (Redskins, Indians, etc).
I understand that even if only 5% are offended that is too many and it probably should be changed, or at least I can see the argument for it as sports team names should probably not offend more than 1% of any group, but I don't care one way or the other. It would be sad to see them change their name. _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:

Completely a bad connotation but I thought this name sounded great:
Washington Greed
That could spawn a really good logo.
Edit: Would also break the plurality of all the team names. _________________

I would have zero problem, with a name change.
The Maryland Redskins

My mother is half American Indian, she was born off the reservation and on her birth certificate it said under race, "Red". That effected her for a long time until she got older and figured out there was nothing wrong with her heritage.
People have to understand that there is more to this then the heritage of the football team... _________________ I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous. |

I'm not against a name like the warriors or Braves to keep the logo though.. _________________ I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous. |

I lived on a large enough reservation to have a pop warner team. We had the Redskin colors, logo and name. I am personally kind of offended that they would try to take that away. _________________

Long... LONG overdue. Sorry Skins fans. I understand tradition and all. But it's a tradition that has outlived its appropriateness. I have felt this way for years. But have edhed around the discussion because it really wasnt appropriate at other times. Let me just say I am very happy to hear it starting to be seriously discussed. _________________

There's really no "might" to it. People are offended. _________________
