So that's two college coaches who have used the eagles to get a little extra cash. _________________ GO SEAHAWKS GO!

They're overrated & not making the Playoffs next season.
8-8 or 9-7 best for Seattle. (& No Playoffs) |

Hearing from someone in the know that Eagles were set to offer Brian Kelly the job today. Kelly turned down job and more $$ to stay at ND. |
Glad he stayed.
To those Eagles fans who didn't want him, may I ask why? He is a very good coach, who has won at every level and has taken ND to the National Championship game in just 3 years.
I thought he was by far the best choice for the job, especially considering the list now. _________________

No NFL experience of any kind, and I don't think his coaching style (very confrontational and emotional) will work nearly as well with NFL players as it does with college kids. He also doesn't offer much in terms of scheme, he's mostly a motivational-type coach and, while that can offer quick turnarounds, those types of coaches often seem to fail at long-term success.
I'm also not a big fan of college coaches in general. I'd much rather have Mike McCoy, Vic Fangio, Greg Roman. Guys with NFL success. |

He reminds me a lot of Tom Coughlin. Very good leader, keeps his guys focused, very good developer of talent and adjusts systems to players. I think he's exactly what the Eagles need. He keeps everyone accountable and performing. He has gotten much better at keeping his cool at the players and talking instead of screaming. Not sure why you say he doesn't offer much scheming wise. He has had very prolific offenses.
Not sure how many coaches work long term anyway. How many coaches are at a place for 7 years or more? 3 coaches?
There's risks with all those guys too. I'd say more so with those guys since they haven't faced the challenges of being a HC (especially at a high demand place like ND), then someone who has.
Point blank, I think Brian Kelly couldve gotten the most of the wasted potential of the roster. _________________

I'd feel bad for ND if he left after all they work he did to get them where they are now _________________

Definitely, there's risks with everyone, and most head coaches don't work out. We'll just have to see how it goes...
I agree that Kelly could have inspired a quick turnaround, I just don't think it would last more than a season or two. |
