Same old Brown's so who will they be hiring in 2015

Hater.

Prove me wrong how many coaches since 99 now-7

Palmer-Davis-Romeo-Mangini-Shurmur-Chud < 7
Terry Robiskie!

Interim head coaches do not count. He only coached because Davis resigned.

Uhhh, no. Many wanted him gone. Creative, but a large reason we lost games this year. Doesn't let Cam be a true QB.
Probably because he realized Cam is not a true QB in the sense your trying to convey. Now had you come in here and stated Chud refused to utilize the stable of RB's and mobil QB to his fullest in the 2012 season then that would make sense and you would be absolutely correct. Complaining about Chud because when Cam was asked to act like a pocket passer instead of a option QB he failed miserably is comical. This is still the same OC that adapted his entire offense to suit Newtons strength's in 2011 when Cam set the world on fire. Chud's not perfect by any means but your QB is responsible for your failings this season not your OC.
Wut? Carolina had its most efficient offense over each of the last two seasons when the playcalling minimized Newton's option running. They were best when he was under center in more traditional sets. But Chud did fail pretty hard at utilizing the RBs.

As for the Hiring you could do worse. He does seem to have some interesting schemes, formations and creative idea's on offense. Whether the Browns have the personel to be used in those areas remains to be seen. Good luck.
Regardless, i don't think it's a bad hire for Cleveland. He can be a very good playcaller, but he tends to force things, even when they're not working. I certainly don't think it's a bad hire for them and I think he could probably work out well. That being said, I'm not really sad he's gone. Had he limited his playbook to what was called in the last six weeks of the '11 season and the last half of the '12 season, I would have loved to keep him. But, I doubt he was going to do that if he was in Carolina next year.

Not really. Playcalling was a big reason for the slow start. Also, "getting worse" implies that its been bad already, which is also false.
Meh. Father is a Panthers fan, and I watched my fair share of the games.

At times the offense was a bit stale, but there was more than a few times where the Panthers marched down the field. Settling for field goals was a problem, but I'd argue the defense was the main issue this past season.

Getting worse was my stance on the Panthers choosing to keep Ron Rivera another season.
Not really. The defense played loads better than expected this year. They lost a few games, but early in the season the biggest problem was offense (largely Newton playing poorly mixed with sticking by a really bad scheme). I know stats aren't everything, but the on defense Panthers were 10th in ypg and 18th in ppg, so it's not like they were ridiculously bad. There offense was about the same (12th and 18th), but it was far worse than expectations (especially the running game).

I think this is a solid hire, though obviously with these things the only thing you can really do is take a wait-and-see approach. I like Chud's potential than more than dour Pat Shurmur. Won't take much but it should be an upgrade.

I do, however, think it's interesting that with Chud and Norv, Cleveland is going all in on the Air Coryell offense. I've had my own doubts about its sustainability in the NFL moving forward, but those are probably the 2 best guys in the league for that system if you're going to use it.

As far as looking at this from a Ravens fan perspective, if they beat us once in the next 5 years, that's progress for them... I'm going to go ahead and assume Chud is at least capable of that.

I think Turner as OC is going to be a boon for T-Rich.

We have very different interpretations of that term, then.

Chud sucks....and Derek Anderson wasnt even good under him.

The Browns iMO just went backwards.

It's not possible to have gone backwards

A very uninspiring hire, but that's par for the course in Cleveland. Just another, Linehan, Shurmer, or Haley in the end. I guess I'm not a fan of head coaches with an offensive background..

Chud could be a good HC. I think he has the potential to be a great OC and he showed flashes of that Carolina but he also showed inconsistency and sometimes down right incompetence. He totally ruined our running game for the first half of the season.

I like the hire. Browns have some offensive weapons who suit they style Chud likes to run and he was hot property this time last year, one down year doesn't suddenly turn him into a terrible coach/OC.

2 Comments in a row that make no sense and take a shot at Cleveland.

Keep up the quality

Went for the cheap hire? They guy that just paid 1 Billion for a football team went for the cheap hire?? lol

Our last 3 have been big name hires (well not Shurmur, but Holmgren was a big name), how did it work out...

Doesn't have to be a big name to be good.

Most coaches started as small names before they made it big, then they become big names.

Random blind hate for Cleveland.

Probably is. http://www.coacheshotseat.com/SalariesNFLCoaches.htm from a couple years ago, even if you don't take inflation into consideration that contract would only put him at between 10th and 19th
