My guess is Mike Smith wants the captains collectively to keep his squad whether it be defense , offense, and special teams leaders while the game is going on and to keep their minds before and after the game positive and doing his own job being held accountable for each and every play!

you have to earn it for Atlanta. That's why there are only captains for the playoffs.
