This hasn't been posted in a while and considering the Pats/Ravens game is a 1 point different because of PATs, maybe it's a nice reason to start another of these.
Belichick suggested a couple years ago on moving the PAT to the 20 yard line resulting in a 37-39 yard field goal. 30-40 yard fields are statistically in the 93% success rate, although I imagine it's less for 37+ yarders but still in the 90% range of likely.
Another option has been suggested as having just two play ins, like the 2-point convert except for 1 point it's at the 1 yard line and the 2 point convert is at the 3.
A final option is of course having no 1 point option at all and only having the 2 point convert. _________________ Legends Never Die. They Breathe Through The New Generation.

If I was forced to change it I'd move it back to the 20 yard line and make them kick from there. I don't really care either way, though. I'm fine with how it is. I wouldn't force a two point conversion. _________________

It's not broken the way it is. Don't change nothing.
changing the "Goal to go" line based on what the offense wants to do is stupid, and emilinates the fake. _________________

I think if they want the 1 point they should just be able to take it but if they want to go for 2 then they have to declare that and run a 2PT attempt play. That would avoid the pointless PAT attempts since almost all are made anyways and remove the possibility of injuries occurring on the play. _________________

Give teams the option to either take the one point automatically or to choose to go for two. _________________ Shut up, NBT |

A decent amount of extra points gets blocked or missed. _________________

Sorry, x0x, but I don't see any reason to change how it is already. _________________ With much cheese,

From 2004-2008 the PAT% was 99.05.
It's better now:
| Quote: | | Since the start of the 2009 season, all but 22 of 3,186 extra points have been converted, according to Elias Sports Bureau. That's 99.3 percent. |
No other play in the NFL has NEAR the same success rate.
It is absolutely pointless. When a guy like Belichick says it's pointless, we should all listen. _________________ Legends Never Die. They Breathe Through The New Generation.

A decent amount of extra points gets blocked or missed. | Do you have a "decent" chance of flipping 7 heads in a row? It's about the same probability. _________________ Shut up, NBT |

99.3% is more like rolling heads 298 out of 300 times. _________________ Legends Never Die. They Breathe Through The New Generation.
