Gregg Williams free to pursue NFL coaching jobs
| Quote: | | Sean Payton is back in the fold. Gregg Williams might not be far behind. |
| Quote: | NFL.com's Albert Breer reported Tuesday that Williams, suspended indefinitely for his role in the New Orleans Saints' "bounty" fiasco, is free to look for work, according to the league. Commissioner Roger Goodell plans to review Williams' reinstatement if and when he lands a job.
Payton was reinstated from his season-long suspension as coach of the Saints on Tuesday, but New Orleans is obviously not a potential landing spot for Williams. The same applies to St. Louis.
Williams was hired last offseason as defensive coordinator of the Rams, but won't return to that role, a team source told Breer. The Rams are already shopping for another coordinator, meaning Williams faces a closing window to find a gig.
It's unlikely a team is going to bring Williams on at the coordinator level this season. It would invite an unwanted circus and his handiwork would be viewed under an electron microscope. With eight new coaching staffs and plenty of assistant shuffling ahead, however, Williams does stand a chance of landing a gig somewhere new. |

The guy's an expert on defense. To bad he has a reputation now from his time with the bounty scandal. _________________ Why, if it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg. With a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg. |

Well. Rob Ryan is the leading candidate for the rams DC job as he is interviewing with them.
Is there any teams looking for a DC? Eagles? _________________

With the way its worded "we'll discuss reinstatement if/when he lands a job" it leads me to believe 1 of 2 things is true. Either the NFL knows the guy has no chance in hell at landing a job right now, or they have already reisntated him. I'm inclined to believe the former. _________________

Interesting, I was thinking he may be barred from the NFL for good. Given the fact he's been an outstanding defensive coordinator, I'm thinking someone will give him a call if not this year then next... despite his level of involvement in Bountygate. _________________ With much cheese,

Until then, I can't think any owner wants to bring that in house. _________________

| According to the Saints players and fans, there was NO BOUNTY Gate, so why shouldn't Williams simply be allowed to come back and coach somewhere??? Every one is now clean shaven.. why should be pick on Williams? |

Sucks that he burned his bridge in Washington...
I wish him the best.
He's definitely a good coach. _________________ Don't be afraid to turn the lights on...

The guy was a bad/average at best defensive coordinator before the bountygate scandal. I doubt he'll get any job as a defensive coordinator this offseason. _________________

And you based that on what? Saints defense? A defense that just set the record of yards given up in an entire season?
I don't see him getting work this season. I just checked Wikipedia... He's only 54 He can get back in the game in a few years. _________________

Every one is now clean shaven.. why should be pick on Williams? | According to my mom I was the cutest baby ever, and according to me my daughter is the smartest 14 yo ever. Doesn't make either true (my daughter is brilliant however). The players, coaches, most fans acknowledge that the saints had a system where players were "rewarded for legal hits that caused an opponent to leave the field for 1 or more plays". Whether you want to call that a bounty or not, whatever, but it happened, and this guy as seen as the face of that. Owners don't want that kind of attn, which is why the NFL said he's "free to pursue jobs" but has not reinstated him. _________________
