I have mixed feelings on this. I want essentially the same scheme as last year, as we actually resembled a real defense last year, which we hadn't seen in years. Hope this doesn't just screw up all the positive momentum we had going on D.

I like the hire. He brings energy and schemes very well every week. I really hope he keeps the same defense with a few nice curve balls that get us over the hump to bring us to a top 5 defense.

Is this the most talented defensive unit Rob will have coached? It seems so. . .
Is this the best head coach Rob has had? It seems so . . .
This could turn out to be an amazing higher, it really seems like a hire that can only be good. Aside from injury I don't see how we could get worse on defense.

I think we will stay 43 cause of Fisher, and that were very successful last year and no reason to change scheme.
Especially at this point only having 2 proven good linebackers on the roster. |

I'm sure we'll experiment on running a 3-4 at certain situations. I remember Fisher utilizing 3-4 schemes during the preseason with us.

You mean...."continue to run a defense that presents multiple looks"....probably so. I do expect the general complexity of our defense to increase this year though.

Agreed, i'm really hoping this year is a huge up turn for the Rams and with Ryan as DC, we can pull more than 7 wins. I'm hoping for at least 9 now. |

It was reported that Ryan was interviewed last Saturday (19th), so the fact that it's taken almost a week to confirm his recruitment leads me to believe that he and Fisher have been in talks over a possible switch to a 3-4 defence; given our playing personnel, to do so would be folly and I hope that Ryan has agreed to stick to the 4-3.
