Wisc is always a tough team but not a perennial championship contender.
MSU always looks good early and rarely stands tall at the end of the season.
PSU remains to be seen with all they have gone through.
Iowa is the biggest disappointment year after year.
Nebraska is tough but it's early for them. I doubt they make the constant noise that OSU and Mich does.
It really is the big 2. |
What is this based on? The 2006 Big Ten standings? Your description of MSU also fits our teams from the middle of the decade, not the current program.
I understand that college football didn't start in 2008, but at this moment there's no big 2. Hasn't been for almost 10 years, although Ohio State had a monopoly of the conference for a while there. |
No, it is becoming a big 2 once again.
Michigan is fully back (if they even left), their recruiting is good and Hoke appears to be heading in the right direction.
Our bowl ban is up. Urban is here. We just went undefeated while not even having a strong team on defense. Our recruiting is very good again and Miller is just about to start his Junior year.
OSU and Michigan will be able to out recruit the rest of the BIG10 9 times out of 10.
It goes
OSU/MICH
Wisc
Neb
PSU/MSU
Iowa

I'm answering his question as to why there is and will be a BIG 2 going forward. Then showing where I rank the other teams in the Conference.
I'm not trying to bash anyone. I don't think any of what I said is a stretch. _________________

I've already made my points. I'll summarize:
Michigan and OSU are by a fairly wide margin the two most prestigious Big Ten football programs. In that regard, yes it will ALWAYS be a Big 2 Little whatever number. The disparity in championships is much too big for any school to overcome in any of our lifetimes. Like I said to someone else, if you value that more than what's currently going on then I have no argument. In terms of what's actually going on, Michigan hasn't won a Big Ten title since 2004. They won 8 games last season. They've done nothing recently to distinguish themselves as ahead of the pack in the league. And although they're recruiting well, you have to do more than get players with high star ratings to be considered back IMO. Those players have to actually perform.
Michigan was completely irrelevant for a 3 year span. There's no one in college football that would have considered them at the top during that time.
I'm not making these arguments just for the sake of bagging on Michigan. They're recruiting well and should be good for a long time. I just think some of you are dismissing 3-4 good programs (Wisc, NEB, MSU, PSU) when you say with certainty that the Big 2 has arrived again. And to say it's already arrived is even more ridiculous IMO, considering that Wisconsin has won the last 3 Big Ten titles, with of course an asterisk next to the 2012 championship.
It's clear how bad the OSU and Michigan fans want each other to dominate the conference. Just let it play out before you prematurely claim that it's already happened. _________________

There is OSU vs UM
A hint of Little Bro vs Cheese
there is "who's number 3 in the B1G"
There is Florida Ohio State.
There is Penn St vs Iowa.
I am sure I missed the others.

Just saw the last page and it was Super and Dawgsfan arguing.
I'm just lost on how Iowa got involved. I understand the others though. _________________

Just find it pretty funny. | Yeah it's a little bit of a CJ. Whatever, I'm good with Wisky getting the bronze. _________________

Ha
we might allow Wisky to partake just to tick off the 2 step children.
(P&M SU)
Would need a Mich vote to approve said allowance however. _________________
