This is currently where we stand.
Atlanta gets:
TE Jimmy Graham
New Orleans gets:
Falcons 2013 1st round pick
Falcons 2014 2nd round pick
What are y'all's thoughts?
I'd be ok with it if we can get him to sign an extension. |
I would have done that in a ******* heartbeat. Are you kidding me?
I mean, in real life I would have thought twice (the contract etc.). But within the context of FFMD - Jimmy Graham for the #30 pick and pay him peanuts - R U Serious?
Anyway, great negotiating Scar - remind me to take you with me next time I buy a car... |

If we re-sign Bretn Grimes and tag William Moore, that eats up both re-structures and the re-sign. we could then extend Moore and lower his first year hit. THoughts? |
I'm going to keep banging the re-sign Baker drum (should be a $3.5m cap hit - I can give you the relevant equivalent contracts)
My thoughts:
Extension - Moore (after tag) or Ryan
Re-Sign - Baker
Re-Structure - Robinson and White
White over Blalock for re-structure; while it saves us less - $2.8m vs. $3.3m - I'm sure Roddy will be on this team in 2014, whereas Blalock's cap number is already starting to get ugly as it is and I'm not a fan of just delaying the pain on that
If we re-structure Blalock by these rules his cap hit will be nearly $9m next year and he will have a $10m dead money hit to release. That's unpleasant.
I would hold off on the Robinson re-structure until we know what Grimes goes for in the talent agency. We should put a realistic bid in and if we get denied, then do the D-Rob re-structure. If we get Grimes, cut Robinson and eat the $1m dead money.
(Obviously we are manipulating the FFMD rules here - IRL, we would never mess up out future year cap with Robinson. But the rules regarding re-structures are sufficiently rigid that we might as well "simulate" a D-Rob salary reduction to $3m without letting him hit the open market.) _________________

Basically the reason I told my AGM to end trade talks, its awful value in terms of FFMD and theirs no way I'm facing Jimmy Graham twice a year _________________

My suggestions:
- #16 overall for DeCoud (under a very reasonable deal and a Pro Bowler) - would also take Quinn or Brockers
- Their 2nd for Clabo and our 4th (maybe our 3rd if they threw in one of their young guards - Watkins or Washington) - bear in mind that this deal would cost us money as $6.9m in dead money would hit our cap, which is more than the $6.8m we are paying him
- Right now, a 2nd for Nicholas (we have no depth and he's not expensive). Dependent on FA, this price could fall.
- Harry Douglas I'd do for a 4th (others may not agree)
- I'd pass on trading Akeem Dent unless I could get the 3rd we used on him back- he's on a rookie deal
Now, the only two of those that they might consider is the Clabo one and the Douglas one. But I don't want to make too many trades. _________________

This except I would put Nicholas as a 2nd. I might but a second on Clabo too, just because they have an early second. _________________

Dallas has put Ware on the block and are looking at our 2013 1st, a future 1st and some late picks. idk how much I like the idea of 2 1sts for Ware. _________________

I'd pass. Ware is an exceptional player, but let's not ignore the facts that he'll be 31 soon and is owed a combined $26M in '14 and '15. _________________

Don't mind giving up our 1st for a premium player on a rookie deal (like Graham/Atkins/that type of guy), but to give up the picks as well as pay market value is too much. This applies to everyone - not just Ware. _________________
