Eli Manning's legacy after he retires?

(Keep in mind, Eli has at least 5 to 6 more years to go in his career and these years will greatly affect his overall legacy).

Some Background information:

Other than being a Giants fan, Eli's legacy in particular has always interested me because of how crazy a career Manning has had.

From the very start there was turmoil. The Phillip Rivers draft fiasco. Four mediocre seasons before Eli showed up in the 2007 playoffs and won the super bowl. The respect, then the backlash, Eli earned from that superbowl victory as a top ten quarterback carrying over into the 2008-2009-2010 seasons. This all led up to the 2011 "eli is elite" comments controversy.

And as you can see Eli goes out there and puts up Elite numbers, has one of the best playoff runs by a QB of all time, and ends it with a Superbowl MVP. The general consensuses from here on out is that Eli is currently elite. Not many QBs have taken weirder paths to stardom which makes this discussion so interesting. Any input on this discussion be fantastic.

If he retired today, ill remember him as a borderline top 10 QB that knew exactly how to turn it up in the playoffs. He had incredible runs to his 2 SB rings. With that said, he's been one of the most inconsistent regular season QB's of all time.

If he retired today he shouldn't be a hall of famer, and he still shouldn't be unless he can consistently be good enough to get his team into the playoffs.

Right now, he's a top 10 QB.

Right now, his inconsistent play won't make him very popular.

I'll tell you what. If he plays for 5 more years, can play consistently well in the regular season, and make another big playoff run, I'd say he'd be a sure fire Hall of Famer.

He's a great player, no doubt about it.

He'll finish as a top 20 QB of all-time and will undoubtedly be in the HOF. I wouldn't call him a first ballot HOFer unless he wins another Super Bowl but he'll be in there nonetheless.

He'll mainly be remembered as a great postseason QB considering the comparisons to his bro will go on forever.

He'll always be remembered by me as the man who won 2 Super Bowls for my favorite team. All the Elite and Hall of Fame stuff...people can argue about that till the cows come home.

I know I'm happy for all the great memories and games he's provided as the Giants QB. And since he's not done yet I hope for more memories.

Hard to say. I don't think Eli will ever be a stat monster like Peyton, but he gives the Giants a good chance to win every Sunday. Ultimately his career will be a success. He's justified Ernie Accorsi's faith in him.
