I actually really like this move. This is they type of change that needed to happen to prove to me that the Lions just don't want to change and improve, but actually try as well.

Will he have any say in the draft, or is that all Mayhew still?

Looking at your list of players he has had a hand in drafting, does that mean he was also a part of taking Tebow in the first round?

He was their GM at the time, so yes it seems Laughing

Even though at the time it really seemed like a move McDaniels wanted.

He also traded a future first round pick to get Alphonso Smith in the second round.

Well he can't be any worse than what we got right now. Laughing I'm not to worried about the McDaniels era, because McDaniels had final say in the roster decisions from what I understand.

Yeah, that's what i've been reading. McDaniels when he became HC promoted him to GM, but still made the final decisions.

A comment from a Broncos fan:

When he was in Denver he wasn’t really the General Manager, the decision maker was McDaniels.

He had one year as basically really being the GM, and he drafted Von Miller over Marcel Dareus with the 2nd overall.

He was the guy who showed John Elway how to do his new job, despite knowing he was going to be canned once Elway was comfortable.

He’s a knowledgeable professional who works well within a system and doesn’t rock the boat, overall this should be a net positive for the Lions. I’m convinced the only reason Denver fired him was because he was one of the last vestiges of the McDaniels era.

Seems like a smart dude who was put in a bad situation with McDaniels. At least that is what I want to believe.

Hopefully he brings a new look on things and will improve some decision making.

I was just pointing out earlier that since he was getting credit for drafting guys like D. Thomas, he needs to get blame for drafting Tebow a couple picks later.

I love this move. The more minds in our front office the merrier. We know have two personnel guys (Xanders and Harris), Lewand for money issues and Mayhew to oversee it all. Mayhew is at least being active, I think he knows it's his last chance.
