Stir, smoke, whatever. You've been talking about getting rid of DQ for years now. It ain't happening.

Why? Because 2013 is year 2 of a huge 5-year extension. It would add so much dead money to our cap over the next two years. Not sure on the total, but when a guy's on year 2 of a 5 year $42m deal, you can pretty much rest easy knowing he's going to be on the team next year.

Tell us again how Manti Te'o, Luke Kuechly, Dont'a Hightower and Vontaze Burfict are all better linebackers than D'Qwell was this time last year.

Or don't.

Just stop posting about D'Qwell, since you have zero objectivity on him.

Your point actually helps my cause. He has a very tradable contract.

Kuechly was beastly this year. Wan't a Hightower or Burfit guy so no point there.

What you're failing to see is DQ's impact on this team mentally. Guys look to him as the vocal leader of not only the defense but the whole team. DQ is a great guy to have in the locker room ESPECIALLY with the coaching change the Browns are going through. If we took a deal like the Texans made with Ryan I would be beyond irate. And as the posters above me have mentioned, DQ will greatly benefit from having better linemen in front of him to soak up blockers. Keep the man.

I know all that. Read a lot of his (and others' of him) quotes. I like him.

I just think of his impact on the team relative to Ray Lewis's on his team and DQ comes up way short.

He's a hometown piece. If we could trade him for value, I would.

You're comparing him to one of the greastest MLB's in history, of course he doesn't have the same impact. He still has a great impact on our team though, that's undeniable.

if the Browns could get a 3rd for him I'd pull the trigger.

Jackson is a good linebacker not great. We should keep him. We need good players.

We already have holes @ LB why create another one, Horton was able to utilize a plate similar to DQ in Daryl Washington, and he has been pretty damn good

What hole at ILB? Not including Jackson the browns are 8 deep at ILB. What is this hole you speak of?Laughing

Hey I am the guy trying to get assets to fill said holes at OLB.Wink

94 Carder, Tank LB 6-2 235 24 R Texas Christian
58 Fort, L.J. LB 6-0 230 238 R Northern Iowa
56 Maiava, Kaluka LB 6-0 229 25 4 USC
54 Moten, Adrian LB 6-2 230 24 2 Maryland
53 Robertson, Craig LB 6-1 229 24 1 North Texas
59 Acho, Emmanuel LB 6-1 240 22 R Texas
51 Gocong, Chris LB 6-2 263 29 7 Cal Poly-San Luis
50 Johnson, James-Michael LB 6-1 240 23 R Nevada

Heck if just went with the 3 rookies and Gocong that would be pretty good IMO. And maybe throw in a 5th ILB say Robertson or Fort and your good to go.

You'd get younger at ILb and have more assets to spend on OLB's CB's or FS's or what ever. Whats not to like? Idea

Am I supposed to feel better about that list ..... ? The only other real option is a second year guy in jmj and a guy coming off Achilles surgery in gocong

Miava has experince in the 34. Acho look good in college and was doing well in camp before he got hurt. Same with JMJ only much later in the season. And Gocong 's best years are when he played ILB. Carder Fort and Robertson have all shown flashs.

Even if DQ stays he is only a short term answer at ILB and not a good one.

With him traded away assets are gained and younger guys get experiance.

Oh and lets not forget about durability. DQ is going to have to stack and shed with 2 surgically repaired boobs. Last time he was in the 34 he spent a lot of time injured and on IR. I am not seeing how age and more NFL millage is going to help that issue.

Maiava is horrendous in the 3-4.

I'm all for trading DQ and especially if it means getting a 4th for him.

Thatd be awesome. Trade away our top captain on defense to draft a guy like Owen Marecic.

No efn brainer guys

According to Spotrac Jackson's cap hit is 6.4 million next year. The following year [2014] he is due a 4.1 million bonus . his cap hit in 2014 is 8.1miillion, in 2015 8.6 million and in 2016 9.2 million. I.M.O. Jackson unless he takes a paycut is gone after this year. Teams a lot of times backload a contract knowing full well the player most likely never sees it.

Way to be hypocritical.

You choose to talk about Maiava for depth and experience to replace DQ? But you Bash DQ for his "inabilities" in the 34?!?!?!

I've proven you wrong about DQ so many times.

How in the hell is he a short term answer?

and you act like he never has to hit someone in the 43....theres times he takes on blockers directly.

Seriously, start watching games instead of looking at stats.

DQ is the heart of our defense and you want to replace him with a second year player (who was injured most of the year as well, yet you choose to ignore, but bash DQ for). He's smart, great tackler, in position at all times, and makes everyone around him better.

I can't say that about any other LB on our team.

Like I said sans DQ the only serious candidates to start would he 2nd year jmj and gocong coming off Achilles surgery. Surgically repaired DQ is still better than everyone on that list

Wait

How is their not a hole at ILB.

Yes Johnson or someone else could play there, but I don't anticipate them doing it very well.

That's like putting Gocong at OLB and saying that their isn't a hole.

IT'S A HOLE
