Detroit Lions LB Justin Durant wants to re-sign with the team
| Quote: | Do you want to re-sign with the Detroit Lions?
"No doubt," Durant said. "I've always put that out there since the season ended. I want to be back in Detroit."
Durant will become a free agent this offseason after spending the past two years in Detroit. He finished with 103 tackles, three pass breakups, and a ½ sack last season. He spent four years in Jacksonville prior to signing with the Lions. |
Do you want the Lions to re-sign Justin Durant?
If not, who do you want them to replace him with? _________________

I would be for resigning him simple cause he isn't a world-beater but he isn't terrible. One of our developmental OLBs is gonna have to step up this year and get more time, I'd prefer it if both didn't have to. Levy or Durant both are decent though so I wouldn't be discouraged by either resigning. _________________

Even before I saw this I felt Durant would be easier to retain versus Levy. Levy being a couple years younger will likely cost bit more considering they are about same talent
Durant wanting to come back and bit older is wiser move IMO given cap _________________

I see one of Durant or Levy being brought back. Not quite sure who yet.
I expect the other spot to be filled by Whitehead/T Lewis barring us drafting a LB. _________________

I'd pass and resign Levy. Durant has a lengthy injury history. _________________ Its only a matter of time until Hockey Town USA is rocking again!

I'd rather have Levy... but that being said, I'm certainly open to Durant coming back as well. It obviously depends on compensation, but I think Durant warrants less than we think he'll get based on age and injury history. Also play. _________________

| Honestly, I would like to see them both replaced this year. I think we could find veteran replacement like FA Manny Lawson or future cap casualties DJ Williams and Jonathan Vilma. I also like the idea of adding Arthur Brown to our LB squad. |

Levy has also missed 7 games since he became a starter three years ago, so it's not like he's a paragon of health either.
Honestly I don't think there's any reason we can't bring both of them back for a reasonable price, and I'd be just fine with doing that. That's not to say I want them both to be starters. I'd start Durant at one spot and keep Levy as the 4th LB who can play inside or outside if someone gets injured, and I'd like to add a LB in the draft.
If they have to choose only one of them, though, I'd go with Durant. _________________

Before Levy hurt his hamstring he was substantially better than Durant was this year. _________________

He is too bad in coverage for my liking. I'll be upset if hes starting for us next year. _________________

I thought Levy was playing at near a pro-bowl level before he got hurt. I was very impressed. _________________

In your opinion. Doesn't make it actually mean it _________________
