| Quote: | The Detroit Lions have begun the process of dumping salary and headaches. And Kyle Vanden Bosch will be among the next to go.
The 34-year-old defensive end has been informed he'll be released, according to a person informed of the impending roster move. The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the move was not official. The person was unsure when the move will be completed.

Lions will still be on the hook of $5 million I believe, but it does save them quite a bit of money. |

I feel like we need a general 'Lions cuts' thread in the NFL News section.
This cut I think everyone saw coming. Always liked KVB but the Lions are right in cutting him... |

| It's not a shock. He makes decent money and hasn't played well the last couple seasons, mostly due to injury. He was a great signing at the time, helping to mentor Suh and Avril. But he's best suited on the sidelines at this point. |

They should really start to consider reworking the contracts of Matthew Stafford and Kong Suh.
KVB's time was probably up, but if Detroit doesn't do something about those 2 massive contracts, they are in some serious trouble. _________________

Martin mayhew has already said that extending Stafford is one of his top priorities this offseason. |

3.5 sacks starting 16 games pretty much speaks for itself... Well, that and his contract. I think thats about 5 million we save and with the added release of Young and Peterman gives us over 8 million. _________________

He really needs to become a Bronco just so they can take a picture of him riding that demon horse statue out at the airport. _________________

If I re-call... didn't Schwartz personally show up at KVB front door on opening day of free agency when he hit the market, just to pitch to him the idea of coming to Detroit? _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

Yep. That's why I was afraid they'd hang on to him again this year just b/c Schwartz likes him. |

I could see Philadelphia trying to real him in for a cheap veteran contract. _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |
