|
|
|
My first attempt at a mock:
Trades
A. Buccaneers trade 13th overall pick for Darrelle Revis.
1. KANSAS CITY: Geno Smith, QB, WVU
I thought about having them trade down, but for now, I think that they will stay here and take Smith.
2. JACKSONVILLE: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Tyson Alualu has been underachieving, and Terrance Knighton is a FA.
3. OAKLAND: Damontre Moore, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
Raiders finished next to last in sacks in the NFL this past season.
4. PHILADELPHIA: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
Even though I know that they are changing to a 3-4(as someone said on another person's mock), LT needs immediate addressing.
5. DETROIT: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
Cliff Avril is a FA, and Vandenbosch was released.
6. CLEVELAND: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
Sheldon Brown may not be back, and they don't have any other capable replacements opposite of Haden.
7. ARIZONA: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Cards need a QB, but none are suitable, and their LT situation isn't much better than Philly's.
8. BUFFALO: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama
Andy Levitre is a Free Agent, so that could be the pick if he isn't re-signed. However, I feel that this is a potential trade spot.
9. N.Y. JETS: Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU
Jets can use some more pass rushers. They also could use a QB, but there aren't any more suitable ones to take until the end of Round 1, at least. With that in mind, this is also another potential trade spot.
10. TENNESSEE: Johnathan Banks, CB, Miss. State
Alterraun Verner is going to be a FA next year.
11. SAN DIEGO: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
After the Senior Bowl, Johnson has been rising up draft boards, and Jared Gaither may not be back.
12. MIAMI: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
Dolphins need to get Tannehill more weapons.
A 13. N.Y. JETS(from TAMPA for Darrelle Revis): Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
Jets get more defensive help after trading Revis.
14. CAROLINA: Sharif Floyd, DT, Florida
Floyd's stock is rising, and he can help the Panthers out with their DT woes. I don't see them passing up Floyd like they did Fletcher Cox(although that worked out for them with DROY Kuechly).
15. NEW ORLEANS: Jarvis Jones, OLB/DE, Georgia
Someone will take a chance on Jones around the 15-25 slot, and I think it will be the Saints, who need 3-4 linebackers now.
16. ST. LOUIS: Keenan Allen, WR, California
Steve Smith, Danny Amendola, and Brandon Gibson are all FA's. In addition, Brian Quick didn't set the world on fire last year, and newly signed Titus Young is unstable. Bradford needs a WR he can count on.
17. PITTSBURGH: Dion Jordan, OLB/DE, Oregon
I don't see James Harrison playing much longer.
18. DALLAS: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
DT is a red alert need for Dallas, just like LT for Philly and Arizona. They are switching to a 4-3, Jay Ratliff may not be back, and Josh Brent won't.
19. N.Y. GIANTS: Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia
Can play two positions, but will probably be a MLB for Giants.
20. CHICAGO: Jonathan Cooper, G/C, North Carolina
Chicago's O-line is a mess right now, and it has been like that for a few years. This may not be their last O-line pick in this draft.
21. CINCINNATI: Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame
He fills a pressing need, and the Bengals usually don't pay that much attention to character.
22. ST. LOUIS(From WASH): Barrett Jones, OL, Alabama
Jones can play about anywhere on the line, but would start out at LG for the Rams.
23. MINNESOTA: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St.
Walter Football compares him to Pat Williams, former Viking and one half of the Williams Wall.
24. INDIANAPOLIS: Ezekiel Ansah, OLB-DE, BYU
Dwight Freeney is a FA, and Ansah could be a good replacement. Some think that he will go top-10, but 24 is a better fit for him.
25. SEATTLE: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue
Hawks are looking for interior pass rush help.
26. GREEN BAY: John Jenkins, NT, Georgia
Pack could use WR and OL help, but nobody is a fit at this point.
27. HOUSTON: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
Cushing is coming off a torn ACL, and they don't really have any other starter-quality ILB's at this point.
28. DENVER: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
With Champ going into his 15th season, it may be time for a switch to safety. Also, Tony Carter and Tracy Porter are FA's.
29. NEW ENGLAND: Bennie Logan, DT, LSU
Pats need help with inside pass rush.
30. ATLANTA: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
Gonzo era is probably over.
31. SAN FRANCISCO: Matt Elam, S, Florida
Donte Whitner didn't have a great year, and they may have some trouble re-signing Dashon Goldson.
32: BALTIMORE: Eric Reid, S, LSU
Ed Reed is a FA, and he may not be back. |

Jason peters will play LT next year. Might have heard of him. Was the best OL in the league in 2011. _________________

DT is a need, but far from "red-alert". We do have some guys who would probably be better than stop gap like Lissemore and Hatcher. I'm still very OK with the pick though! _________________

Yeah, if he is healthy. |
Why wouldn't he be?
He is so far removed from surgery today he is probably fine. _________________

I would prefer WR in round 1. I would also prefer Kawann Short over Johnathan Hankins, he offers more as a pass rusher and has the strength to play the 1 tech spot. I dont think they go for a Pat Williams clone. _________________

Te'o's "issue" wasn't really "character" related. _________________ 2013 Draft Needs: RB, Safety. Maybe RT and backup LBs |

It is possible for us to take a TE in the 1st. But good lord would i be highly disappointed if the Falcons did that with all the D-line talent there being much bigger needs.
TE should be a spot in the 2nd to 4th round the falcons look for their new guy. Much better value and the talent is truthfully just as good with Escobar, Kelce, Reed, and Fauria.
What hurts me even more is you see the saints and packers taking guys like Ansah and jenkins Would be so horrible come draft day for the falcons if thats what ended up really happening. _________________

| Warmack to Bills makes zero sense.. We wouldn't allow Levitre to walk considering we are well under cap and than draft out of need with gaping holes at QB, LB and WR |

Dion Jordan epitomizes the "misconceptions about your teams need" thread.
He bears 0 resemblance to what the Steelers do at ROLB. _________________
