Quote:
There are six proposed rule changes by the Competition Committee, along with some proposed bylaw changes.

Quote:
First proposal: The red-flag rule would be revised. No-brainer.

Quote:
Instant replay proposal: Ruling of incomplete pass would be reviewable through a fumble.

Quote:
Safety proposal from Competition Committee: Changes to PAT and field goal to reduce injuries in line. Snapper becomes defenseless player.

Quote:
New tuck rule would result in a fumble if the quarterback is in the process of moving the ball back to his body after pump.

Quote:
Competition Committee proposes allowing tight ends to wear numbers 40-49.

Quote:
Competition Committee proposes complete ban on peel back blocks, even inside tackle box.

Quote:
Competition Committee proposes preventing players to use helmet outside of tackle box. No forcible blow with top of helmet.

As a Detroit fan I feel strongly about one of these rules....and that's clearly the TE-H back 40-49 rule.

Like the tuck rule one, it's a needed change.

Most of them seem legit. Not sure about the snapper being defenseless player

Good change. Although it hurts Andy Dalton. I think he's been bailed out by the Tuck Rule more than any QB in recent years...

Haven't they been doing that anyway? Like, forever? Neutral

Agreed.

Although I have no problem with the LS rule.

No peel back blocks? What are you supposed to do then, when the situation calls for it?

Agreed. I had to Rolling Eyes at that one.

Love the tuck rule one.

Also, INB4 "Goodell is ruining the NFL" argument starts.

I don't know when those rules changed, I have no idea. Is it possible he was grandfathered in?

Or is it possible that his paperwork with the NFL has him listed as a FB?

Also, if 80-89 are all taken, TEs can go down to 40-49

IIRC, they were supposed to be designated as H-Backs, not TEs. Yet, Dallas Clark and Chris Cooley wore numbers in the 40s and were TEs, so who knows.

I like the changing of the tuck rule, though. It was a dumb rule to start with. But I don't care much for a long snapper being a defenseless player. He's still a Center who needs to block immediately after snapping the ball.
