being reported as 3-4 years worth $3-4M per. Bears were given option to match and declined.
Really solid football player who can probably play any LB position you want him to. Bears did want Roach back, but not at that price.

We really needed some LBs though. Which position does he play best?

He can do the job (at least for a while) at any LB position. It is not going to help the Bears to lose him that is for sure. |

good pickup for the raiders. The bears not matching this offer is kind of strange to me bc of there lack of depth at the LB position especially with briggs age and urlacher being a FA as well.

They highly overpaid for an average player. The Bears dont have much cap room, and they think they can find someone else who will do the same or better of a job without paying 3-4 million per year. Roach is not worth that. He's a decent player, but he's never going to be more than average. |

He's as mediocre as they come. I've been one of few in the Bears forum year after year wishing somebody would step in and replace him at SLB, with the amount of quality LB's still available, giving Nick Roach $4 million is crazy.

I've always liked Roach but I would still be surprised if he revived his career like Phillip Wheeler did.
Similar player but not nearly as heady as Wheeler. Also, a Northwestern alum!

Well Wheeler was pretty average as well, so if we are gettimg the sane level of player (average) for a smaller contract its not a bad move. Don't love the signing but i can live with it.

Nick Roach was a solid player for us. Would have liked to have him back. But looking at that price and him starting doesnt appeal to me. I think he should be a backup to be honest.
