If it wasnt for his age he probably woulda signed a lot faster. Tough, strong, great coverage, plays the ball well. Good pickup wherever he lands. _________________

Seriously? They must be taking everyone who visits to King of Diamonds or something. What's the cap situation like now? _________________

Man, the Dolphins?
They have been overpaying to sign everyone. I hope they don't give Grimes a contract we can't match. _________________

Not exactly sure but there's enough to sign Grimes and re-sign Long. A handful of players we can cut aswell that would relieve alot of cap space. It isn't an issue at this point really. _________________

They had a bit over 17m before Gibson. They can also clear up to 8m or so by cutting Dmitri Patterson and/or Richard Marshall if necessary. |

ok, its almost like everytime I click on the news forum, Dolphins is bringing someone in or signing someone new. I never looked up the details on the recent moves, so I assume most of the contracts are backloaded or just low cap hit deals. _________________

We will need it since we apparently overpay on every acquisition. _________________

They backloaded like crazy. Prior to Keller and Gibson:
| PFT wrote: | From receiver Brian Hartline ($2.15 million of a five-year, $30.775 million deal) to quarterback Matt Moore ($2.5 million of a two-year, $8 million deal) to receiver Mike Wallace ($3.25 million of a five-year, $60 million deal) to linebacker Dannell Ellerbe ($2.425 million of a five-year, $35 million deal) to linebacker Phillip Wheeler ($2.4 million of a five-year, $26 million deal), those five contracts account for a total of only $12.725 million in 2013 cap space.
Next year, with Hartline’s number going to $6.2 million, Moore’s moving to $5.5 million, Wallace’s skyrocketing to $17.75 million, Ellerbe’s inflating to $7.425 million, and Wheeler’s growing to $6.4 million, the combined cap numbers for the same five players become $43.275 million. |

There's some finagling going on. They cut Dansby and Burnett, but they classified them as June 1 cuts, which means their full salaries count against the cap until June 1--otherwise they'd have another $9m in space. |

Ellerbe and Wheeler are each cheaper than Dansby and Burnett. Moore will likely be gone next season when Devlin becomes #2. Starks and Keller are each one year deals. Gibson shouldn't be large and even if he was, Bess is gone next season. Hartline and Wallace are the only two which will hurt us long term. Hartline can always be cut after year two though if he disappoints. We also get 9M on June 1st so we can hit the top of our cap and sign our rookies after June 1st.
We are only replacing players. Remember that this is Philbin's chance to build the team he wants. The players that we had fit Sparano's mold. _________________

The Dolphins are NOT allowed to sign Wallace, Ellerbe, and Grimes in the same offseason.
You stop that, you stop that right now!
On a realistic side, it'd be an amazing signing for the Dolphins, and if Tannehill improves and their running game can handle losing Bush, they'll be a factor in the AFC _________________
