good signing imo, enough of a decent player to allow the raiders to not be completely devoid of good veteran presences in 2013 when they're struggling to win game imo

Good signing for the Raiders... But they need to be focusing on improving their secondary. Because right now it's beyond bad. I wonder if they will take Dee Milliner in the 1st round? They should also go after Tracy Porter IMO. Can be had for cheap.

Dennis Allen did coach the Senior Bowl so I've had a feeling hat we're going DB heavy in the draft since we didn't sign any DB FA's. Obviously you know DB is is specialty and this draft is deep for CBs and safeties so it makes sense. We definitely could use a vet though, no doubt.

And this is the part where I remind you that free agency started five whole days ago and that most of the DBs haven't signed with anyone else, either.

Their Linebackers were also beyond bad. Also their defensive line is beyond bad. The entire defense was beyond bad.

That must be why you guys paid Wheeler a huge contract, right?

I was talking at the beginning of the off-season, when Wheeler wasn't on the team anymore. Wheeler was by far your guys' best defensive player last season. But yeah, we did overpay for him.

I'd say Houston was but Wheeler was definitely up there. And besides, you have to have players to actually be bad anyway. Laughing

Well thats what I was getting at. At the beginning of the off-season, your entire defense was filled by third-stringers and/or no one at all. Hence, any defensive signing would be an upgrade for you guys.. Razz

I do like the fact the Raiders aren't going crazy in FA this year. Build through the draft. The Raiders have another few years of being bad - mediocre due to rollover from the Al Davis era, but they're doing it the right way now. Looking forward to seeing what they do in the draft.

PS

Yeah Houston was solid too, honestly forgot about him. I'd say it was a toss up between Houston and Wheeler. I guess we'll find out this year whether Wheeler really did improve immensely last year for you guys, or if he just looked good because he was the best out of the terrible LBs you had last year... here's hoping to the former.

Nice signing. I hope the Raiders in a few years get a decent team. I hate the Broncos.

The front was far, far worse than the back and if we take Dee Milliner 3rd overall, we just wasted the pick. We're fine in the secondary for now (aside from FS but I believe we'll go after Tony Jefferson w/ our third if we can't accumulate any more picks prior)
