I was just thinking to myself.."boy those Seahawks corners aren't very good they need to bring in some more help."

I'm kidding of course. This would be a good pick up for them

I would love this addition if he's not expensive. Like others have said, he'd be perfect for our Nickel spot and would certainly counter the Nnamdi signing Laughing

Goodness gracious. This thread has nothing to do with the Redskins. And let Winfield sign with the Seahawks. I honestly don't want him in the B&G simply because of age.

I'm beginning to hate the Vikings-Seahawks connection. I really hope Winfield doesn't sign with them.

At the same time, I don't think we can compete with them. Recently outside of Steve Hutchinson, they've outbid us on everyone.

Anyways, In a limited role, Antoine Winfield is still a great player. You will not see him running down the field for the deep ball. Thats for sure, but the short zone and LOS is where he'll play, and where he will thrive.

He's the single best tackling CB I've ever seen. Perhaps ever. Its like having an extra linebacker in there...but smaller. Laughing

He's a team leader who I think just wants to get 1 or 2 more years to really cash in and win a Superbowl.

At the very least, we know he'll get paid in Seattle, but if they sign him he'll be a nice short term piece to the puzzle.

But still,

Come back home Antoine.

You have to think the connection of Percy, Sidney, and even Heath Farwell is part of the draw to Seattle. If that's the case, I'm loving this Vikings/Seahawks pipeline. You could hypothetically just add Winfield to the Harvin trade.

Perhaps the Vikes need to make a move for Marcus Trufant, is he still available? May as well throw him in that hypothetical deal. Laughing

He is still available, and I actually wouldn't be surprised if you guys did go after him if Winfield leaves Laughing He pretty much brings the same skillset as Winfield, just to a lesser degree.

Don't sweat Seattle, Taylor.
They're overrated & not making the Playoffs next season.

Their vaunted defense got straight up "owned" on the first 2 consecutive drives.
Then RG3 got injured on the roll out & then later tore his knee.

Remember, RG3 was MAYBE 50-65% going into the game, to begin with. (from the ravens game injury)

A healthy RG3 destroys Seattle. I have no doubts about that. So let them have Winfield if they want him.

Charles Woodson is still available and they're the same age, i believe.
Plus a deep draft in Secondary.

We've kept all our Players from last yrs playoff team --Lorenzo.
We're good to go, Taylor.
No worries. Smile

Plus their Division just got tougher. 49ers with a dream team.
Cardinals actually have a reasonable QB, who doesn't completely suck.
Rams have a good Defense and draft picks to improve.

Seattle not only is going to have a tough time winning games inside their own Division, but are not going undefeated again @Home like they were in 2012.

8-8 or 9-7 best for Seattle Taylor. (& No Playoffs)
I've been saying it for months.

And for us?
We have the same team as last year + a new draft to improve.
Giants are losing everyone and could lose Cruz. (Blackburn, Boley, Kenny Phillips, Osi, Bradshaw, Bennett, etc.)
Dallas now has Romo forever... Laughing (that's a good thing)
Eagles are in complete rebuilt mode with Spurrier X2.

Things are looking good for our Redskins, Taylor.

Oh dear.

I will bet you anything Seattle makes the playoffs.

I wouldnt be opposed to Trufant, if he was significantly cheaper than Winfield. Is Trufant largely a slot CB at this point? It would be an interesting development, without Winfield, the Vikes are thin on experience at CB.

He is limited as a slot CB as well. He is still great near the line and is a poor man's Antoine Winfield in that respect. He won't cover a player down the field but he can operate well in zone coverage.

I would have to think Trufant would be better on the outside than in the slot- he was atrocious covering the slot.

He can't chase a guy down the field he just doesnt have it anymore. Hes decent at the LOS so hes an alright nickle corner very average at best. He cant play outside anymore.

Trufant spent his entire career using the sideline as an extra defender and it showed this year. He was absolutely horrible in the slot, there's no way he can be any worse on the outside.

No way the Vikings go after Trufant. I think they try to get Winfield back on a cheaper deal, or move on and draft a younger player.
