I remember thinking this kid may develop into something special when he was drafted. He flashed some promise in 2010 but then fell off again. He has great speed, but I guess never developed the route-running ability or hands to become a good WR. Maybe he can turn it around in San Diego.

One day, when we look back at the amazing 2013 season, we shall speak of the day Dion Lewis was traded, and THIS as the move that had everyone in awe.

My goodness, the landscape has CHANGED. CHANGED!!!

I would say that you're being sarcastic, but I know that ET doesn't do sarcasm.

Still a fan of Butler. Just needs to stay healthy. Prove me right, damn it!

His route running and hands are actually pretty good. He just never had a role to fill in Seattle.

Chargers pick up a wavier wire WR? Pro Bowler

Pick up a high priced WR on the verge of breaking out? Sucks

I thought it was more that he couldn't get off against press coverage that was his downfall.

That was definitely a part but in my eyes, he didn't have the size of Sidney Rice, the playmaking ability of Golden Tate or the ability to play in the slot like Doug Baldwin. He also cannot play in the slot and for such a fast guy, he doesn't use his speed like one would expect. He is a possession receiver that happens to run a 4.3.

The main thing was his injury issue. He suffered that vicious broken leg a few years ago.

Wow, a couple years ago (back when Seattle were 'meh') I always seemed to like how Butler player, he seemed like a shifty route runner who would excel in a short, spread passing attack like, I dunno, the Patriots scheme.

I wouldn't have minded us picking him up.

Don't the Chargers already have a lot of similar WR's though in Vincent Brown and Eddie Royal?

I'm hoping Royal is released, and joins McDaniels, who he only had his glory years under.

Nah, he's going to Chicago to re-form the order of the triad.

But seriously, he is probably going to be released. They need to get rid of the bad contracts from last year's FA spending spree, including Royal's. He's gone this year or next.

Vincent Brown is similar in size, but he actually looks good playing on the outside. Norv tried to use Royal there at times last year and it was ...baffling and ineffective.
