Major move by Elway which immediately improves that department. Heckert had a couple of very good drafts in Cleveland and many Browns fans on this forum were hoping for him being retained by the new regime.

Good move!

Can Browns/Eagles fans lend any insight here?

Obviously Heckert is going to be behind Elway and Matt Russell...but what does he offer?

I know a lot of Browns fans really liked Heckert, at least on this board.

Yeah, but you know how fans opinions of former players/coaches change after they leave.

I know alot of Browns fans wanted him to stay...eager to see if that is still the case or if he suddenly became a terrible GM. (BTW...thats not meant to knock on Browns fans...ALL teams fans do that)

Nope. Twas pissed we let him go and I'm still pissed. I will root for him in Denver to be successful. He had a couple of crappy moves while here, but some question whether it was him or Holmgren.

Ironically, I would call pro personnel Heckert's weakest area. I thought he was a good drafter, but his FA signings left something to be desired.

Always liked Heckert, though, and wish him well. It's too bad he has to work for horse face. Yes, I'm still bitter about the 80's.

I was frickin pissed we got rid of him.

He won't do anything in free agency, but let him control the draft.

Honestly, I think his title is a bit of a misnomer. I don't think he'll specifically handle the areas of pro personnel, so much as he'll be another voice in the room for all the decisions.

Also, if his draft prowess is that good, it shows the staff will be taking the 2014 draft seriously.

I like him. Still wish he would've survived the ownership change. Brought in Joe Haden, TJ Ward, 2012 draft, etc. Lots of solid players and found Josh Gordon in the supp. draft.

From what Browns fans have been saying about him, seems like he is a very good drafter, seems to hit on most picks. I would say that's probably his strength, so it's a good hire by Denver.

If Heckert is your Pro Personnel guy, I'd be worried.

His FA record was just atrocious.

I for one didn't drink the kool-aid everyone else did on Heckert.
