Bad news, Jaguars fans: Goodell told me there’s a good chance the Jags will play TWO “home” games in London very soon.

Love jags fans <3

Honestly this was kind of cool when it was one game, now I just hope it doesn't ever involve my team.

Misleading title is misleading.

According to Jaguars fans, home sales are actually pretty good. So, what gives? Why do the Jaguars want to screw over their fans (and chances... they'll have to travel 10 times in a season...) by doing this?

Despite what Shahid Khan has said about wanting to keep the team in Jacksonville, playing two games in London almost seems contrary to that stance... If I were a Jaguars fan, especially a season ticket holder, I'd be furious with this news... why would Khan anger his fanbase if he wasn't planning to abandon them somewhere down the line?

I agree there should be a "could" in the title, but aside from that, the title of the thread is exactly what Goodell said. Honestly, it's a bad thing if the Jaguars are even considering the notion (in fact, Goodell even said it was "likely") of playing two games in London, as that shows they aren't happy with Jacksonville...

We were last in revenue last year IIRC. Playing in London will bring in a lot of revenue.

Lets see if Billy posts Hubbuch's clarification tweet.

I don't see how this helps the Jaguars' case to stay in Jacksonville. And watching the Jaguars lose twice per season won't convert many people in London to be Jaguars fans I'd suspect, either.

If it's one reg season and one preseason game that's cool but otherwise that's a quarter of their home games, might as well move there.

If one of the games is a preseason game, I'd say this is understandable. If it's two regular season games, not good.

Clarification: Goodell said the Jaguars could play two games PER YEAR in London in the near future.

Old news people. Not two home games.

The way "per year" is capitalized makes it seem that that's the clarification, not the fact they aren't home games. Either way, he didn't discount that they'd be home games, either. But if that is the case, this is a non-issue. The only way this is an issue is if they're taking another home game away from Jacksonville. Guess we'll have to wait for more info.

One look at the money that Khan is pumping into the team and the stadium (video board, anyone?), and even our freaking jerseys with the ode to Jacksonville that city's history shows that the team isn't moving anywhere anytime soon.

We've known about 1 home/1 away game for a long time. Khan wants to build a global brand with the team, and being able to make us lose an "away game" alongside our "lost home game" to play in front of a crowd that we're trying to get to buy into our brand makes perfect sense from a business and competitive standpoint.

He could be right and that it's an extra home game and the clarification was per year, but he's screwed up, misquoted and misdiagnosed so much with this "story" that I'm inclined to believe he just read "home game" into what Goodell said rather than it just being an extra game. NYP isn't exactly the most reliable source, and this guy just happens to be the only member of the media to get this new information that it's no longer a home + away, but two home games? Color me shocked if he really did get the info.

Aiello also said Goodell didn't say "there's a good chance the Jags will play two games in London very soon.''

Oh.

Oh.
That's Greg Aiello, a PR man for the NFL.

Also this:

Quote:
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello says NFL is going through an internal analysis of whether one team should play two games in London in same year.

And this:

Quote:
Aiello said no decision has been made and no outcome is being pushed.

Shoddy journalism strikes again.

EXACT from Goodell: “If we go to 3 London games, what we’ll likely do is ask Jax to potentially play 2 or ask 3 different teams to host.”

And no mention of home game from Goodell, from the guy who claimed Goodell said home game..
