Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters was arrested today after leading police on a chase at speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour.

Peters was arrested in Monroe, Louisiana, and booked on charges of drag racing and resisting by flight, according to USA Today.

I guess that this means his achilles is okay to put the petal to the metal...

Do you think there will be a suspension? How does this fair for a pretty good player coming off of not one but two achilles injuries last off-season?

Yes, Victor Cruz is a bigger asset to a QB than Antonio Brown is. Id be hard-pressed to find many people that would take the latter.

How exactly do you resist by flight..?

We really need him to play this year, hopefully no suspension!

Wow drag racing, that is a new one for sure. Why would such a big guy drag race though? He would weigh the car down too much Laughing

Oh, come on. This is going to be very frustrating if he gets suspended. I was looking forward to having the starting OL playing together for once.

edit:

Looks like flight from an officer is a fairly minor crime:

Quote:
Whoever commits the crime of flight from an officer shall be fined not less than one hundred fifty dollars, nor more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.

http://law.justia.com/codes/louisiana/2006/146/78265.html

So he probably won't see any jail time and might manage to avoid a suspension.

Well, six months is a pretty hefty jail sentence. I don't recall Peters having any problem with the law before, though, so he'll probably get off with a lighter sentence.

Drag racing could be him actually racing, or a cop thinking he was racing someone from a stopped red light to green (I know someone who is 50+ years old and was accused of this). That IMO wouldn't be an issue for him, but the flight from the cops... running from the cops never results in anything good.

I doubt he gets suspended or misses any time because of this, but it is certainly a "strike" against him in Goodell's book.

Doing this is always dumb, but after a serious injury? Why put yourself in more danger?

I was gonna say that reckless driving can carry some really serious consequences... but I looked it up for Louisiana, and it seems like it's not really that big of a deal there. It's way, way, way worse in Oregon... Especially if you're the one that organized it.

Quote:
While racing itself is only a traffic offense, organizing a race is a criminal charge. If you organize a race that takes place on a roadway and includes two or more vehicles, you could be charged with this felony.

Organizing a racing event is a Class C felony charge and carries a potential 5 year prison sentence along with fines reaching $125,000.

Week one suspension sounds fair to this Redskins fan.

If he was he should be given a mulligan. Its not possible to drive home like a normal person after those movies. Seriously, check the numbers there's gotta be a ticket spike when those movies come out. Its like crack.
