The #Lions have signed veteran safety Chris Hope. The 11-year veteran played in 16 games (4 starts) with Atlanta last season.

The Lions also released former Browns 2nd round pick WR Brian Robiskie.

Hope is a one time Pro-Bowler who has been a starter for the Steelers and Titans for much of his career and recorded 716 tackles, 39 passes defended and 20 INTs during that time.

He can provide some veteran leadership for the Lions.

I had no idea he was still in the league. He was a great player and a good dude but I have to believe he doesn't have much left in the tank these days.

Hope has looked to be cooked for awhile. Not sure he makes it out of camp.

Should at worst be a solid veteran presence for us. I'd also feel better if he stepped up in the event of an injury instead of a guy like John Wendling.

Chris Hope had possibly the sharpest decline I have ever seen from a player. Was a good to great starter for us for four to five years, but his play just fell off a cliff in 2011.

What exactly happened there? That was a guy that nearly everyone here wanted for their team late 2nd-3rd round.

I never liked him.

I personally never understood why people thought he was a "safe pick".

Was so happy when the Browns drafted him.

Yeah, prospects without next-level athleticism aren't "safe picks." If anything, they're the biggest long-shots.

Robiskie was well-coached (makes sense, his pop is a WR-coach). Nothing more.

I think when your own father doesn't sign you as a free-agent, it says something. Brian's dad, Terry, is the Falcons WRs coach.

He was really good at OSU. Then again, having a heisman win it QB helped a little.
