The release cleared $4.55 million in salary.

The Browns might sign Marshall who played under defensive coordinator Ray Horton in 2011 on the Cardinals and was confirmed the "defensive MVP" that season while playing CB and Safety.

So I reckon Jamar Taylor steps into his starting spot?

Demetri Patterson....

JAmar Taylor missed a large part of camp with an injury and just started practicing recently...

Will Davis looks to fill the nickle role...

Is he not good anymore, or was his contract just too big?

HE's solid, but with two emerging rookies, Grimes, and Patterson he was sort of the odd man out....Phins cut him early enough to allow him to find a job with another team...

I'm a little surprised it would happen now and not later. Patterson secured the job, but it looks more and more like some combination of Taylor and Davis, depending on health, will get the nickel corner job. The timing is interesting because the 2nd and 3rd team secondary hasn't looked good in preseason action, though the first team has been pretty strong. Maybe with Taylor finally getting to practice fully, they felt he was expendable. I always thought he'd be a good choice to play at safety, but I guess they don't feel justified paying that kind of money to a backup safety either.

Another note: for as much as people harp on how much Miami spent this offseason, they are currently $20 million+ under the cap for this year.

I wouldn't mind the Panthers bringing him back. He could possibly win the #1 CB spot with the state of our secondary.

Wouldnt be a bad dime CB option for the Vikings, behind Cook, Rhodes and Robinson. Given that Cook has struggled keeping healthy, insurance wouldnt be a terrible option.

I guess there's more to his back injury than was thought.

With Steve Williams injury, the Chargers could look into him.

I'd really like for the Browns to sign him. They could definitely use a cornerback and Marshall has had success in Horton's system. Marshall could then face the Dolphins in week one.

I'm kind of shocked that they cut him. He was going to be a starter or at worst a nickel, which is essentially a starter. Will Davis has a nose for the ball but all he has truly shown me is that he is uber-aggressive and any QB is going to eat his lunch. Taylor has hardly gotten on the field because of injury so I'd be shocked if he contributes before week 6.

Luckily Nolan Carroll looks improved...

He should be a good nickel, or even #2 corner somewhere. So if you're thinking of him as a dimeback, keep on dreaming Wink

He was excellent in Arizona...I hated to see him go.

And I would love to see Horton reunite with him, I just wish it was in Arizona.
