Quote:
Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, no stranger to altercations, was involved in another notable one before training camp.

After a late night at a nightclub in the Fountainbleu hotel in Miami, Incognito punched and knocked out a hotel security guard, according to league sources. incident

One person who knows Incognito says the Dolphins guard was punched first.

There is videotape of the incident but the hotel is unwilling to turn it over and the NFL has not yet seen it -- and might not due to fact that it is the hotel's property and the Fountainbleu prefers that attention not be brought to the issue.

The Dolphins have been aware of the incident because, as one source said, "they've done everything to bury it."

The NFL declined comment. The league knows it cannot police all altercations involving NFL players, though this one happened in public, with witnesses. It still is premature, but Incognito's altercation could be a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy.

He's always been known as a hot head, so I can't say I'm surprised.

Not surprised, but before it gets brought up, Smith was still wrong.

Not good. But might not be a huge deal if he was punched first.

Incognito by name, Incognito by nature.

I remember him being very aggressive when he was on the Rams, pretty sure he headbutted a player once.

If he was hit first, this is not an issue. Only time will tell, as more details come out.

I remember a few years ago when the Rams waived Richie Incognito and the Bills claimed him, this is what the Bills big free-agent signing, Kawika Mitchell wrote on twitter:

"BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT THIS YR. THE GUYS A BUM. DIRTY AND ALWAYS WILL BE. REALLY WISH I WAS PLAYIN RITE NOW. SERIOUSLY... I KNO WE'RE N NEED OF OLINE BUT THIS GUY ..."

That's important.

The hotel is probably keeping it quiet because they / their employer is the one to blame.

I doubt that.

This is a pretty disingenuous thread title. Also, this story is most likely nothing at the end of the day.

This is nothing more then the ESPN capitalizing on the incident between Incognito and Smith....

The police investigated the incident....the police reports states no injuries to the security guard while Incognito has scrapes and abrasion to his face. I find it amazing that a person gets "knocked out" by a massive lineman and has no visible injuries...
