Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for an apparel violation, a person familiar with the league’s action said.

Robert Griffin wore an Operation Patience T-shirt during warmups for Monday night’s game against the Steelers.

Some are outrageous. Some aren't. I bet RGIII knew that he wasn't allowed to wear that shirt and just didn't care.

The NFL has deals in place with sponsors. Players agree to it. I see no problem with the fine.

Right. RGIII has been fined for this type of thing before so you know he knows the rules but just blatantly didnt follow them.

If you break the rules, silly or not, you get fined. Simple as that.

I'm sure his sponsors are more than happy to pay the fine.

really dog tags?

really?

I'm okay with this fine. He's been in the league, knows the rules, probably knowingly disregarded them.

He's a soldier, just like Kellen Winslow.

I'm sure the sponser will pay the fine.

FYI, sponsors aren't allowed to pay fines. It is taken out of a players' paycheck, IIRC. Also, if it's found that the player is being reimbursed for the fine, it's a big offense.

I may be mistaken but the Opertation Patience shirt is something he came up with because the coaches wouldn't let him play in the preseason. Has nothing to do with any sponsor.
