Looks as if Vince Young has won Packers backup QB job. Packers are releasing QB Graham Harrell.

Seems obvious. I don't think that offense would do squat with Harrell under center.

Harrell or Young... I think it's obvious the Packers would struggle mightily if Rodgers goes down in any case. If the Raiders start Pryor, maybe the Pack would trade to get Flynn back if Rodgers gets hurt before the trade deadline.

I mean if Rodgers goes out long term then their season is over. But if he has to miss like 4 games, then Young has a better chance of getting a win or 2 in that span to keep their season alive.

I think Young could win some games for the Packers if Rodgers went down for an extended time.

Harrell, not so much. He came in for 1 play against the Saints and fumbled a hand-off after he tripped and tried to reach out to the RB. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Does it really matter? It's basically the equivalent of the backup QB for Eli, Peyton ,Tom and Drew. He'll never see the field anyways. If he does like the previous 4 mentioned the team will be a shell of themselves regardless who lines up, including Vince himself.

I wonder if we could trade Young for Flynn with the Raiders... seems like Pryor will start and I would love to have Flynn as our back up again. lol

I knew the moment we signed him he would most likely be the back up. I've seen Harrell enough to know he can't win football games. Just doesn't have the talent. VY instantly gave us the best chance to win ball games should Rodgers miss time. Harrell will get cut and Coleman will spend another year on the PS developing.

He can lead the second offense and act as sort of a gimmick RG3 or Kaepernick, that is a great tool to have during practice. He can also teach the defense how to stop to read option. Pretty much a win-win. After Kaep ate up GB last year this will prepare them this go around.

I dont think the Vikings even will have an interest, that should tell you how bad this guy is.

Congrats to Vince Young for all but securing the backup job.

The Packers have just became a little better as a team after this decision. Very Happy

Watching Harrell in any live game action was like watching the backup C-team QB get playing time with the varsity.

To be honest it would actually make sense for both clubs "if" indeed they turn to Pryor. Athletic backup to push Terrell and a backup QB who already knows the system and terminology for GB. Wouldn't that be funny.Cool

Hate the fact that he somehow marched down the field on half of our #1 defense and almost threw a TD -_-
