Per Florio on NBC. Will add link when available.

Edit: Here it is from Schefter

Freeman joins a QB depth chart of Matt Cassel and Christian Ponder. That's a whole lot of mediocre between the three.

It is a one year deal, per Rapoport

Interesting development considering how well Cassell played in London.

Oh good heavens, I hope this is incorrect! We already have 1 mediocre (if that) QB... no need for another one!!!

Big mistake...!

I personally think the Vikings are the perfect team for Freeman to succeed.

Good choice, for both sides.

Freeman gets the change of scenery he needed and the Vikings get a QB that can actually be something better than competent. The Vikings have an offense and the personnel to really have him succeed.

I really do hope Freeman can get his head on right.

I may be one of the few, but I think he turns it around in Minnesota. Becomes a yearly 12-16 on the QBs rankings kind of guy.

I bet Sam Ponder is stressing the most of anyone.

If all the reports about him being lazy and uncommitted are true, I really like this move. If they stick with Freeman and don't draft a QB next year in what looks like a very deep QB class especially at the top, I love this move.

Agree and think this is a great signing. I'm sure guys like Greg Jennings and Kyle Rudolph will appreciate having a QB who can throw the ball down field.

I really like this move for MN. Matt Cassel can hold down the fort for a couple of weeks while Freeman gets acclimated. Freeman has that big arm and the receivers to hopefully take pressure off of AD. I certainly have realistic expectations, but if MN can get 2010 or even 2012 production from Freeman, they have a potentially dangerous team.

I hope its a two year deal with a team option for year two.

Well, Christian Ponder is probably available. Any takers?

If Freeman can get back to where he used to be, where he actually looked like he was on his way up as a QB, then I love this move.

Otherwise, he's just another mediocre QB on this team.

This week Ponder will still start, but he'll probably manage to blow that, and people will call for Freeman.

So, by week 7 or 8 we'll see Freeman starting again.
