Steelers placed LT Levi Brown (triceps) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The Steelers traded a conditional late-round pick to the Cardinals for Brown, making an effort to stabilize their tackle position. Brown never even played a down with Pittsburgh. He hurt his triceps while warming up ahead of the Week 6 win over the Jets -- sustaining the same injury to the same arm that cost him his 2012 season. The Steelers are praying Mike Adams can suddenly start performing better on Ben Roethlisberger's blind side.

At least it was a conditional pick for Pit. Still has to hurt to trade for a guy and have him never see the field.

Steelers are going to re-sign Max Starks, it's inevitable...

Season-ending injury from warm-ups?

I'm sorry, but I find that morbidly hilarious.

Oof. Poor PIT. Wonder if they were also considering the Monroe deal but got beaten to the punch. Regardless it has to sting to trade for a subpar LT, have to pay him more than he's worth, then have him get injured before he really gets to play. All while a bitter rival picks up an above average LT for roughly the same price.

Despite what many might think, our O-line didn't do that bad last game. Of course the average for that O-line might be best described as "horrible", but still....

????

Our trade was for a conditional pick and we may not even have to give up a pick now depending on the conditions.

And pay him more? The Cardinals absorbed his guaranteed money and a chunk of his base salary, so we only paid him vet min for this season. With Monroe, not only did they pay more, but they will have to give him a lucrative extension if they want to keep him.

In terms of us trading for Monroe, beyond just the money issue, there is a good chance our front office wasnt even aware he was being shopped.

The Levi Brown trade was a bad move from the start, but in the end, it may have no real effect on us at all. Just be as if we never signed him...again, depending on the conditions.

This is flat out wrong.

The Ravens are paying Monroe less than the Steelers are paying Brown. Brown is being paid the veteran minimum at $840k, whereas the Ravens are only responsible for paying Monroe $715k. The Steelers are paying Brown $125k more than the Ravens are paying Monroe.

Furthermore we have no idea just how much Monroe is asking for. For all we know he might be willing to accept a little less to stay in a competitive situation, amongst other things. So lucrative could easily turn into reasonable- just like with Yanda's deal.

But if Monroe asks for too much we have the option of letting him walk and receiving a compensatory pick for our troubles.
