That's a pretty big blow for the Patriots. Mayo is a key player in their defense.

I don't think you want to know the answer to that.

Your best and most important player is healthy.

Yeah, and number two hasn't played yet this season and arguably numbers 3 and 4 are out for the season. It can get worse, but not a whole lot.

Well yeah. But at this point, this is like Seahawks getting to keep their best player Sherman and losing Wilson and Thomas or something... now take a leader like Unger just to kick the man while he's down. Its comical at this point.

Injury wise, would you consider this worse than 2008?

No, but it's pretty much as bad as it gets outside of that.

No. But at least in 2008 you knew you weren't going to win anything right off the bat. This is getting a teaser of what 'could happen' and then the rug gets pulled out... infuriating.

Mike Petraglia ‏@Trags 6s

Have confirmed Mayo surgery on torn pectoral. Here's the deal. Out at least 8 weeks. Can start working out again in 6 weeks. #Patriots

Major sigh of relief.

Mayo is a good player, but the Pats have Spikes and Hightower to fill that role. I wouldn't be too concerned.

That's a fantastic typo by Rotoworld, as PFF's opinion really is worth nothing.
