Looks like O'Brien is the hot name out there at the moment, apparently so many teams have been in contact he could pretty much name his price - which is going to be a hefty one due to his release clause (6.5 million).

Terms agreed.

BOOOOO.... but don't blame him. Didn't really see him sticking it out with Penn State while they're under their sanctions. Hope this doesn't make Hackenberg want to leave.

But a suggestion for future coaching interview threads since we have two pop up already for the Texans...

Maybe in the future just have threads for that teams coaching search and we can update the title to show the latest changes.

Figure they'd hire Lovie Smith and not interview anyone else. Also I know O'brien has coached in college, but what makes him such a hot name out there for the NFL?

Because he was coaching Brady and the Pats before PSU... not 100% but believe he was the OC. He is known to be great at developing QB's which good chance the Texans have a young QB.

Agreed.

Good coach. Better than I anticipated him being.

Wasnt his buyout lowered at Penn St. as well?

I think hes a good fit in a good situation. #1 pick (possibly), talented roster, (AJ,Hopkins, Watt, Cushing, JJ, Foster...etc)

If he drafts Teddy and develops him quickly, watch out.

Wouldnt be a bad hire at all. Always thought highly of him as a coach. Thought he was more of a fit for a head coaching opportunity than other people coming out of the New England coaching academy (like McDaniels)

If he comes back to the NFL, I really hope he stays away from Houston. I think he'll be a good HC.

We all gonna hate on this hire like Chip or nah?

It would be a great hire for the Texans. Wouldn't be surprised if they won their division next season tbh.

Did you not understand the reasoning some people had about being skeptical of Chip Kelly coming to the NFL? Hint: Bill O'Brien prefers the pro-style offense.

I felt Kelly would find success as a Ducks fan but it's not had to see why others were skeptical. Either way, the Eagles season has been a roller coaster ride and Chip Kelly can't really be called a successful hire yet, IMO.

Don't bring your logic and reasonable thinking in here

Wasn't Kelly another college coach who publicly said he was staying and then bolted to the NFL?

I could be wrong but I think I remember that.
