No one is surprised by this move. The lions should be in the playoffs right now.

This move was obvious and I'm happy for Lions fans... Schwartz is a defensive minded coach and most of the success the Lions had the past 3 seasons [excluding last season] came because of their offense who was ranked top 5, so he really wasted it. Time to bring a new guy who can fix the defense.

I lol'd.

If the Rams decide to part ways with Tim Walton (which is doubtful), I bet we will hear a lot about Gym Shorts.

Linehan has gotta go as well. He put a ton of pressure on the defense when the offense wasnt clicking.

Good idea for not only firing Schwartz, but keeping Mayhew. Detroit has the talent there.

Point? He inherited Calvin Johnson and was handed Stafford (and a huge contract). This team was set to build around those two players.

The defense has been tough to play against, with the only weakness being the secondary. Considering how many picks and players have failed back there, that should be expected.

This team struggled down the stretch because #4 and #5 WRs were forced to start. Drops plagued this team, and a number of games were lost late due to mistakes made by the receivers. Mayhew threw picks away on Derrick Williams, Titus Young and Ryan Broyles, and it showed.

Schwartz is taking the blame, but the blame should be placed equally throughout the organization, from top to bottom.
