Get ready for a nice period of mediocrity from Tampa Bay. One of the most overrated coaches in recent memory.

I think he is going to do great in TB.

Going to be pissed if Lions lose out on Lovie and get Jim Caldwelol.

Great hire. With the defensive talent in place, Tampa Bay will have a top 5 defense next year imo. And offensively, they can be good enough with Glennon, Vincent Jackson and Doug Martin.

IMO, Tampa will win 8-10 games next year with Lovie. He's basically this generation's Dungy.

Didn't "do great" in Chicago....what's different in Tampa Bay? They need a QB and Smith has shown to be inept at picking an offensive staff, identifying and developing offensive talent and implementing the offensive scheme.

He gets talked up because of 2005-2006 when he got two years of All Pro performance from 2 of the best LB's of that time period (Briggs and Urlacher).

As an in-game strategist and overall coach, he's shown to be quite mediocre. He might be a good defensive coordinator if he has elite talent to work with. I expect 3-4 years of 7-9 to 10-6 with maybe 1 playoff win. Maybe that's good enough for Tampa Bay fans after the recent disasters.

Excuse me, but Lovie Smith is a fantastic coordinator. You are selling him extremely short.

Can't wait to hear who his staff will be.

Will be interesting to see how Darrelle Revis plays in Lovie Smith's system. Wonder if Lovie decides to alter his scheme a little or if the Buccaneers will start to hear some growing moans at the first sign of struggle.

Better than top 5 picks every year.

He's like Dungy insofar as they're both incredibly overrated, marginal in-game coaches and they need to be carried by their players to success. Despite having one of the league's best defenses in Tampa Bay and the best QB of his era in Indianapolis, Dungy put up a 9-10 playoff record.

Dungy was a good coordinator and a mediocre coach. Smith isn't even a particularly good coordinator. Good coordinators and coaches should be able to get respectable performances from their units even with mediocre players. That's not really Lovie Smith.

No offense but if I wanted to see dung spew out of something, I'd go use the restroom.

What you're saying about Smith isn't just wrong, it's offensively ignorant.
