Leslie Frazier as a DC is somewhat troubling, but I suspect that Smith will have a major influence on the defense.

Frazier was never much for scheming or making adjustment. He seemed overly reliant on what was comfortable, never trying anything new. Fraziers lack of diversity as a DC pre 2011 was somewhat troubling. Alan Williams was hired to replace Frazier as DC and he showed much more flexibility within the scheme, from running more blitzes and more press and man coverage. The Vikes ran a lot more zone pre 2011 and lacked creativity in terms of personnel packages.

I think Frazier is a good hire if Smith wants to be able to control the defense.Otherwise, getting out coached was a common complaint by Vikes fans towards Frazier. Tampa is a good spot for Smith and Frazier to get back on their feet, the talent is abundant in Tampa.

My guess is that Jared Allen will be following these two to Tampa.

Is it because you're gonna be assured a top pick?

I've got a feeling they have a promotion in mind for him. But we don't know if the Cowboys actually blocked him or not.

LaVonte David is going to shine in Lovies Tampa 2. And now with Fraizer as DC, this D is going to be good.

Rod is probably going to be the DC next in Dallas, which worries me.

our defenses always underachieved under frazier.

in 2008-2009, we had a very talented defense and they only had above/average production. frazier is ironically a former DB, yet defending the passing game is his biggest weakness. he cannot make adjustments when a team starts exploiting the linebackers on the short-intermediate stuff.

Agreed. if Tampa can draft C.J. Mosley to play MLB, watch out. Id love to see those two on the field together.

Lack of talent has more to do with this then coaching does.

I've always respected Lovie, especially when he was still in Saint Louis. A lot of people I know in Houston wanted him, Bucs should be very happy.

He went 11-5, 8-8, 10-6 in his last three seasons as a HC and got canned. Has that ever happened before?

I like the signing a lot for the Buccaneers. Lovie Smith was one of the guys I wanted the Lions to consider, but the Bucs are a better fit for him. Hopefully he can turn them around.

Check on Marty Schotenheimer with the Chargers. He very well could have had the same results. The only thing I know is that he got fired after a playoff season, which was weird. Confused

One problem you will find with Love is that he will spend picks on defense even when there is greater need with offense. That is unless you can lay 100% of the blame with Jerry Angelo.

Won't be the case anymore. Reports are saying Lovie will have complete personnel control while in Tampa.
