Good hire, Revis is as good as gone.

Dallas definitely should have promoted him though, although very glad they didn't.

Guys who cover Dallas say this is speculation, and not fact. They don't expect Jerry to allow the move.

Would be sad to see him go. Guy is the truth. Only reason Kiffin was bearable.

That would be a bad move. Good luck trying to get good assistants to go there if you start blocking upward mobility.

While in principle, I agree, this case is different. You think Rod could not find a DC gig before? Please. He wants to be DL coach. He enjoys it. He will take DC because Lovie is his best friend and will do so as a favor.

Lovie will use Revis to his strengths, he would be mad not to. I'm pretty sure he is capable of changing his scheme to include a shut down man corner.

This reminds me of the Chip Kelly debate last year.

I am not the least bit surprised.

And now Tampa shall learn what Lovie's constant overriding hiring program is. He hires his buddies no matter how good or bad they are. Sure Marinelli is good but remember that Lovie also gave Chicago Mike Tice the OC.

Tampa, the new place old head coaches go to die.

Why do you say that? Lovie won't know how use to use one of the best players in the league?

At one point the Chicago Bears had THREE former head coaches who had been abject failures on staff.

I have a hard time seeing Marinelli as anything but a bum and by the way the Cowboys defense was awful in 2013.

What is wrong with that? Do they not have more experience then? The league has a huge turnover rate. Because a guy doesn't make it as a HC he shouldn't be on a staff in the future?

He's also completely wrong, Mike Martz won a SuperBowl as an OC, went to another as an HC, and was perrennially in the playoffs. Mike Tice was the HC for one of the most prolific offenses in league, was also one of the most respected OL coaches in the NFL. Rod Marinelli, was of course the HC of the 0-16 Lions team, he also is w/o a doubt THE BEST DL COACH IN THE NFL.

Two of the three were absolutely horrible and the third was only decent looking because he was a puppet for Lovie who was the guy really running the defense.

That distinction belongs to Karl Dunbar.

Mike Martz owned one and only one stat since he left the Rams, his QBs always ranked at the top for number of times sacked. Heck, it shows how bad you are when Mike Singletary runs you out of town.

Mike Tice had never been an OC before he was with the Bears and was so inept that delay of game penalties and wasted timeouts were a given as Tice could not even get the calls in on time.

Marinelli was a decent DLine coach but was nothing more than a Lovie puppet as DC.
