Rod Marinelli, was of course the HC of the 0-16 Lions team, he also is w/o a doubt THE BEST DL COACH IN THE NFL.

That distinction belongs to Karl Dunbar.
With all due respect to Dunbar, no.

Why not? Dunbar has done a remarkable job with the Vikings and Jets.

Look at Rod Marinelli's career. He made Simeon Rice (who busted in AZ) one of the better pass rushers in the NFL. He developed 1 HOF DT in Warren Sapp. He made Booger McFarland a household name. Shaun Rogers, his best years were under Marinelli. He goes to the Bears and look at how Henry Melton and Corey Wootton (4th round picks) developed. He goes to Dallas, and even with 17 different starters on the DL over the course of the year, he managed to keep them mildly respectable. The Dallas fans do not want to see Rod go. I love Dunbar, he's an Iowa guy and I'm a massive Iowa homer, but Rod is in the discussion of GOAT DL coaches.

Also, I have met the guy, he looks like everybody's grandpa, but he's as hardnosed and tough as they come. Laughing

Rod had to endure with over 16 different DL this year. And he managed to get that no-name group to actually produce. Since the start of the year, 50% of our starting DL never took a snap.

The man must practice voodoo or be the second coming.

Only way he doesn't join Lovie in TB is if Jerry Jones opens up the check book like I expect him to do and throw the bank at him? Depends on whether Marinelli is ready to leave as to if he takes the money or not??

Well, not quite. The only way he joins Lovie is if Jerry allows it. He has blocked Coaches in the past.

I doubt it comes to that, though. No reason to make someone disgruntle.

Dunbar just turned a UDFA from William Penn into one of the best NTs in the NFLů
