Bad loss for the Patriots, he was among their better defensive players.

Not really. At least not this year. He's always been a liability in coverage, but this year he looked pretty bad in run support, without an elite DT in front of him.

I read somewhere he was placed on IR because he missed a meeting or something to that extent, and Belichick just had enough?

That's as much info as the Boston media has about it, I believe.

Of course he is....I'd be. His plan was to play through the pain, but the team probably saw his performance as a liability (which it was). There's no question he was hurt, you could see it in the way he was moving.
