Love it for the vikes. Spielman will probably do so more trading but I like the value for the trade up to get Bortels.

Great 2nd and 3rd rounders for Giants but I loathe Zack Martin.

Honestly I'd rather we just sit at seven and take Watkins ourselves.

Quote:
1 *Johnny Manziel QB Texas A&M

I would be really pissed off if Clowney and Teddy went 1/2, but if that was the case, I am right now leaning toward Khalil Mack. The need to bolster the pass rush is a major one and Mack is a really gifted guy who should fit real nicely in the LEO role on this team. As of late though, I will admit the pass rushers likely to be available on Day 2 have me a little tempted to just prefer reaching a tad here on a guy like Bortles. Johnny Football though in all circumstances is just too big of a reach for me right now.

2 Jeremiah Attaochu DE Georgia Tech

Not bad at all. If Pass rusher was the pick in round 1, I would definitely change this, probably to Van Noy who should come in and boost the linebacking group in Jacksonville. I might even go Jimmy Garoppolo although I understand that is high for most people.

Quote:
3 *Bishop Sankey RB Washington

If Van Noy and Mack were the 2 picks up to this point, Jimmy G without a doubt. If a QB was in fact grabbed by now, the pick is not terrible if MJD is not back. Otherwise, it kind of stinks.

Quote:
4 *Marcus Martin C Southern California

Position of need? yes. Too high to take Martin in my mind? yes as well

Quote:
4 Mike Davis WR Texas

I can't really complain on this one. Jaguars worked with him in Mobile and supposedly came away impressed.

Quote:
5 *Ronald Powell OLB Florida

Bringing in more bodies at LB is a good move, and my feelings on this pick are dependant upon whether Van Noy was taken in round 2.

Quote:
5 *Ego Ferguson DT LSU

A bit low in my mind for him, so I really like getting a talented guy like him this late.

Quote:
5 Josh Huff WR Oregon

What's the point? This team really needs one WR right now and that need was addressed with Mike Davis. Getting quality players at other spots is more important I think than a luxury of another WR here.

Quote:
6 James Gayle DE Virginia Tech

Quote:
7 *Xavier Grimble TE Southern California

I like both picks, notably because I think both guys could/should go higher.

My picks based on how the draft ends up playing out:
1-Mack LEO Buffalo
2-Van Noy OLB BYU
3-Jimmy G. QB E. Illinois
4-Watt G Notre Dame
4-Larsen C Utah State
5-Sims RB West Virginia
5-Watkins CB Florida
5-Urban DE Virginia
6-Hazel WR Coastal Carolina
7-Grimble TE USC

I always appreciate the effort of a 7th rounder. Preciate ya.

Quote:
* Minnesota trades pick 8 & 72 for Oakland's 5th overall pick

I would anticipate a trade into the top 5 for a QB garnering more than a 3rd rounder. I do hope we'd trade down in this scenario, but there'd have to be a 2nd round pick in the mix.

Quote:
8. Oakland (From Minnesota) - Derek Carr QB - Fresno State

Realistic? Unfortunately so. If it happens, you can kiss this current coaching staff goodbye. Carr is going to be a huge disappointment, I fear.

Quote:
36. Oakland - *David Yankey OG - Stanford

I could see it. Clearly a need. Yankey is a good player.

Quote:
67. Oakland - *Brandin Cooks WR - Oregon State

I'm good with this pick.

Quote:
72. Oakland (From Minnesota) - *Tre Mason RB - Auburn

This pick, not so much. I don't see the value in spending a premium draft pick on a RB who'd be a backup for at least a year. Factor in that Mason, while good, is nothing special, and I'm left wondering why we wouldn't address a harder to fill position here and find Rashad Jennings a caddy on Day 3.

Fiedorowicz, SJB, Desir, Gaines, Ellis all make for better options.

Quote:
103. Oakland - Kareem Martin DE - North Carolina

No problem with this pick except that you have Jimmie Ward going a few picks later. If a quality FS like Ward fell this far, we'd have to take him. Woodson is on his last legs and there's no plan B behind him.

Quote:
165. Oakland - Rashaad Reynolds CB - Oregon State

Fills a need. Would have gone with Colvin or Exum myself, though. Kevin Norwood would be a really nice get this late as well.

Quote:
196. Oakland - *Kelcy Quarles DT - South Carolina

If I said I had no quarrels with this pick, would that make me incredibly cheesy? Probably so, I guess.

Quote:
212. Oakland (From Arizona) - Tevin Reese WR - Baylor

If this had been Storm Johnson and the Mason pick had been something else, we'd be in business.

2 Chris Smith DE Arkansas
3 Jimmy Garoppolo QB Eastern Illinois
4 Morgan Breslin OLB Southern California
5 *Cameron Fleming OT Stanford
6 Andre Williams RB Boston College
7 Prince Shembo OLB Notre Dame

3 is too early for a backup QB.
5 may be too late for an OT if we lose Anthony Collins.
The rest of the draft is very likable.

Hate trading up. Hate it. Especially if we aren't even taking the best player (would be Robinson in that scenario). Would rather stay put and draft Ebron.

Fuller is a good pick in the 2nd. Could see Marcus Smith, Troy Niklas (hell even with Ebron Laughing ), or Lamarcus Joyner there.

Assuming we keep the 3rd, I'd say Billy Turner, Chris Borland, Pierre Desir, Stanley Jean-Baptiste, or Will Sutton there.

Would prefer Jimmy Ward or Telvin Smith in the 4th.

I like Tripp in the 6th, but could see TJ Jones, Marqueston Huff, Phillip Gaines, Shaquil Barrett, or De'Anthony Thomas there.

Westbrooks works in the 7th, but isn't he a head case or something like that? Might prefer Taylor Hart, Marcus Williams, Brandon Dixon, Tyler Starr, Hakeem Smith, or Dri Archer there.

With the Lions, don't try to peg certain positions for us because we likely won't draft just for position, and our largest needs will likely be addressed in FA. Just go with the most talented players for now. If you go with defense, try to go with big and/or physical CB's and try to get guys who can make plays.

It's not a bad Bucs draft but could be better.

I would stay at 7 and take Watkins. Then go ASJ in the second and Morgan Breslin in the 4th.

Also would much prefer Tevin Reese over anyone with our 7th. Even if we took Watkins we need more speed

Despite how poor our interior OL is, we only need a C not G. We have Donald Thomas and Hugh Thornton (Thornton played well towards the end of the season and Thomas missed all but 2 games because of injury) We should draft a G but not until later in in the draft if at all. If we cover C in FA then we might take DL in the second round.

I don't know where that extra 7th rounder comes from. We traded ours to San Fran and got one from Baltimore. (We also have a conditional pick possibly going to St. Louis.)

Agreed on both points. Has any real draft had no CBs taken until #24 in the past 15 years?
