Seems like a decent deal to me. He's a top center when healthy. And it's not like the Steelers have a ton of expensive vets to pay any more. The team is now on the younger side, so it makes sense to lock up some of the guys who deserve the money while they have the cap space.

Look for Mike Pouncey to eclipse this deal after the 2014 season.

As he should, Mike Pouncey is one of the few Centers I think is better than Maurkice.

Have to see the specifics still, but just looking at the base money, I'm not sure I'd like this deal if I was a Steelers fan. Low end top 10 player at a relatively low priority position does not warrant that, to me.

I'm actually fine with this contract, completely fine. He isn't at the "low end" of anything when he is healthy, some bad luck put him down for the season in 2013. When he's healthy, imo, he's a Top 5 NFL Center.

I don't mind the deal either. He's still young and should flourish under the guidance of Munchak as OL coach.

Kaps agent has indeed blundered but I feel like some agents really like that big number even if it's fluff to reel in new clients. Some of these college kids don't care or don't educate themselves on this. "I'm going to pick the guy that got Kap his 120+ million dollar contract" So he may have cost himself a little guaranteed money while inflating a number that will never be reached to get more clientele

Don't agree with that one. I think Maurkice is the better Pouncey but they're same tier. Kalil is clearly the #1 and then there's a mad mixup of Sullivan, Mack, Pouncey, Pouncey, Unger, and Kelce.

Center might be the most important position on the OL, depending on who you ask. How is it not important?

You know, except Kelce's 13 Million Gauranteed is Top 5 at the position, and his Average Annual Salary is also Top 5 at the position. Receiving that after just one year of elite play.

In comparison, Pouncey got 13 Million Guaranteed and 7 Mill a Year given its an extension, while Kelce got 13 Million Guaranteed and 5.7 Mill a Year.

He's an Eagles fan, who thinks his Center is the best, but he's only being paid like 7th highest.

Still confused?

If DeCastro can stay healthy along with Pouncey, the Steelers should have a nice interior line.
