They've only played three full games together in two years. DeCastro looked like a stud the second half of last season. Really hoping those two can stay healthy.

Yup. This too. Though Mangold did have a little while in there where he was pretty great.

Personally think he was overrated most of his career.

Most. Not all. Originally, the hype was justified. 08 and 09 he was pretty stellar.

Very good re-signing here for the Steelers. Pouncey's a big part of that team and its future.

I was gonna say, thats a huge if. Laughing

Pouncey is very good though when healthy. I like the re-signing!

I genuinely think that Pouncey's stock has suffered because of the guys who have played around him.

DeCastro and Foster have become reliable interior Olinemen (Foster has been for quite some time), but the Tackles on the outside have been anything but reliable. I genuinely feel that part of the problem with our interior OL is that the Guards are trying to make up for what the OT's aren't doing and then Pouncey is forced to attempt to overplay his ability and make up for what the Guard's aren't doing.

Imo, when everyone is clicking and doing their jobs, I think Pouncey can be argued for a Top 5 NFL Center. Even with the recent state of our Oline, I think Pouncey is undoubtedly a Top 10 Center.

I will say this, I do agree with the idea that the Centers of today's game aren't nearly as good as the Centers of "Yesterday's Game". As much as I like Pouncey, he isn't Jeff Hartings, Jeff Saturday, or Brad Meester.

Also, I don't know why Kalil didn't come to my mind earlier but obviously he deserves to me mentioned. What it all comes down to is, which Center do you like the most? The Top 10 Centers in this league, are all pretty good, imo, none of them are "elite" if you're comparing them to "Yesterday's" Centers.

It's funny, because you can say the same thing for the other Pouncey. Last season he performed mostly well, couple stinkers but the guys to his left and right were probably the worst starters on the OL.

Look for Mike Pouncey to eclipse this deal after the 2014 season.

As he should, Mike Pouncey is one of the few Centers I think is better than Maurkice.

Don't agree with that one. I think Maurkice is the better Pouncey but they're same tier. Kalil is clearly the #1 and then there's a mad mixup of Sullivan, Mack, Pouncey, Pouncey, Unger, and Kelce.

I'd put Pouncey (ours) and Unger in the 3rd tier

I'd like to see him actually play as well as he did his rookie season.

13M guaranteed isn't half bad. the $44M is pretty insane, but not real relevant as far as I'm concerned.

If anything his rookie season was the one that was drastically overrated...

I don't think people realize just how average Center play has been since Brad Meester and Jeff Saturday started to decline.

Kalil has been beastly when uninjured.
Myers has been the prototypical ZBS center
Mangold was "good, back in the day" but living on name recognition for a few years
Guys like Kelce, Sullivan, Unger, BroPouncey, etc. have all had a few good seasons as well.

Been awhile since there have been any consistent centers though, so I can agree with that one

Pouncey was a Pro Bowler as a rookie and made All Pro in his 2nd season. Now, I'll admit that he might've been overrated as a result of the contrast between he and Hartwig, but his 2nd season, he was NOT worthy of an All Pro nomination.

Congrats to the Pouncey brother who isn't a complete moron. The only C in the same conversation with Mack.

Maurkice has made his fair share of foolish decisions too.

^What?

Telling fans to shut up?

Wearing that stupid hat?

Pretty sure neither things even come close to what his brother was accused of being involved in.

While that's true, while he has made his fair share of 'poor decisions' in how he's acted at times, the Hernandez Hat and his reaction to fans, as Bender mentioned, it doesn't even begin to touch the actions of Mike Pouncey if what he's been accused of is truthful.

Nor does it erase the ridiculous comments he's made about different people and circumstances.

That isn't to suggest Mike isn't talented however.

Wait... What has his brother been accused of?

"Accused" probably isn't the right word here, but he was subpoenaed about supposed gun transactions with Hernandez because they're trying to get Hernandez on gun trafficking charges too.
