Baltimore already has two very good boundary corners and two decent guys competing for the nickel position so I don't see him going there.

The first part is right -- Webb and Smith are both very good boundary guys. However, Webb is also a great slot CB which would be where he'd shift if we brought in Flowers. The "decent guys" are decent, yes, but CB is most certainly an area we're actively looking to improve on heading into the season.

He's a good GM. We don't need him getting a life-sentence for kidnapping and demanding a ransom.

Also, do you know what they do to guys that look like this in prison?

And that's the kicker of why Peaches' report is misleading... San Diego's been his only visit so far - only one scheduled but only one taken as well.

There were reportedly 10 teams kicking the rocks on him when he was first released. Per reports (take them for what you will) so far, Atlanta isn't interested "right now". The Lions are "seriously considering" take a run at him. The Vikings have contacted him - but the same source also speculated that Flowers is a pretty poor fit for the press-man coverage Zimmer wants to run. Ravens have "reached out" to Flowers - which is completely vague (could just be someone calling his agent to find out what his $ demands are like). And a Baltimore-based source is reporting the Pats are interested - but then Belichick is always at least somewhat interested when a quality vet hits the market.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Chargers are hosting free agent CB Brandon Flowers for a visit on Wednesday.
The Chargers know Flowers well after he spent the first six seasons of his career in the AFC West with the Chiefs. Flowers was released last Friday. The Bolts have one of the shallowest cornerback depth charts in the league. Shareece Wright is the No. 1 by default. GM Tom Telesco used the 25th pick of last month's draft on CB Jason Verrett. Veteran Richard Marshall is also in the mix. Flowers could immediately step in and be DC John Pagano's top corner.

There's a chance....

We could just backload the contract since we have alot more cap space the following years because both Gaither and Meachum are off the books after this season. I doubt we would be able to cut Clary this year. Maybe if he takes a paycut like Royal and Freeney that would be much better since he was decent at guard, though overpaid.

Clary was not decent at guard. Clary sucks. Far more then any player I've ever seen start as many games as Clary has. Flowers would be a huge signing for us as it allows us to not be cornered into Verrett starting week 1.

Yup, it gives the team options.

Nice.

Yeah, I would be pretty mad if we signed Flowers. Poor fir for our scheme, and he's gonna come at a price. I like the fit in SD though.

As do I since it almost assuredly means, whether it happens before or after the preseason, the deduction of Richard Marshall from the roster - which won't free up a ton of cap space, but because of his number of years of veterancy would still free close to $1m.

You see the team only carrying 4 CB's this year due to Gilchrist versatility?

Eric Weddle, Jason Verrett and Brandon Flowers could make a nasty secondary.

Well if they keep having their CBs play 10 yards off, not really. Laughing
