Vince Young announced that he has retired from the NFL at age 31 after only starting 50 games in his career.

Somehow Young managed to make two Pro-Bowls in his career and will finish it with 46 passing TDs and 51 INTs.

This never fails to make me laugh when a guy who hasn't played in 3 years "retires".

Seriously - Vince Young was forced into retirement a long time ago by virtue of being both awful as a QB and mentally unstable. If somebody offered him a million dollars tomorrow to be a QB he would "un-retire" pretty quick. It's not retirement - it's unemployment.

VY is in the top 3 of best college football players I ever saw personally. Crazy how that doesn't translate into NFL success one bit.

Yep. Watching him and Reggie Bush that year was a ton of fun.

Vince Young might not have had the best career.

But he DID have NFL success. It wasn't sustained, but before he was benched he was playing the best football of his career.

Yeah, that post was overboard. We started off 0-7 with Kerry Collins one year before our owner forced Fisher into starting Vince. A 8-1 run ensued, he did have success and while his numbers weren't brilliant, he did a good enough job for us to win games.

Its always comical when a player that no one wants decides to officially retire.

That game against USC was one of the best I've ever watched. Too bad he never worked out.

If he was even half as good during the first 58 minutes of a game as he was the final 2, he'd have been one hell of a QB. I've seen plenty of great QBs fail in the clutch, but he's one of the first QBs I've seen suck most of the game then destroy teams in the clutch.

I didn't watch much college football back then, but I remember my buddy turning on a longhorns game when Young was a redshirt freshman. I remember thinking this guy is a future NFL qb. It's too bad his physical tools didn't translate.

What else are they supposed to do? Not retire and keep paying union dues?

I never got why Fisher seemed to hate him. He just seemed to find a way to win games for you guys.

Still think/thought he could have done something in the NFL.
