Maybe as a situational pass rush specialist? I don't think he has ever played in the 3-4 so I don't see San Diego is in the mix. Age and health are a concern.

Seattle for the vet minimum is possible.

He played as a 3-4 OLB at the start of his career with the Texans.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him in Bills TC.

We'll probably run a lot of Wide-9 sets after all.

Why release him so early after resigning him? There has to be something wrong.

Dammm. Cripples their super bowl dreams.

Dude had a monster year from the wide 9..

Wonder if TN picks him up, Even though they're going to a 3-4..

Could rush from the OLB position.

Babin failed miserably as a 3-4 OLB which led to him being considered a 1st round bust. He's not the smartest guy in the world. He's useless against the run as well. His best fit would probably be in Buffalo under Jim Schwartz (assuming he still runs the wide-9). Babin is best suited as a rotational pass rusher.

I would take him in Cincy for that role. Just come off the bench sometimes and attack the QB. Doesn't really fit our style, but we go through periods like all teams where we can't get to the QB. Throwing someone like Babin in to cause some disruption would be nice...

I dont understand why we would cut him so soon after signing him to a 3 year deal not so long ago. It isnt even TC time yet. Wonder if there is more to it that we dont know

Must be. Let's play why would Justin Babin get cut in this manner!!!1!

A) Retiring either out of shape or injured and doesn't want to go through it
B) Extreme conflict with management "I wouldn't play that position in that scheme what are you? Crazy?"
C) Impending legal problems

My thoughts exactly. Something had to have happened for him to get cut a couple months after being signed.

1. He's not good.
2. He isn't outperforming our current young guys
3. He didn't do much depsite 'sack numbers'
4. This shouldn't be surprising, there aren't snaps to go around and we are giving him a shot to catch on elsewhere.

Not that I disagree completely, but how can one say this one way or the other before Training Camp even starts? Laughing

Shouldn't the Jags have accounted for Points #1 and #3 before resigning him? Releasing a guy like Jason Babin isn't the end of the world, but I'd have to believe there's more to the story or they shouldn't have resigned him in the first place...
