The Jimmy Graham decision is out. Burbank has ruled hes a tight end. The Saints have won

The #Saints can now franchise tag Jimmy Graham as a tight end at $7.053M. A savings of $5M vs a WR tag

Big win for the Saints, big loss for flex TEs.

I personally prefer RapSheet's first tweet which said that he's a "right end" instead of tight end. Still that is a massive win for the Saints, but I have to image we'll start seeing a lot of the flex TE's holding out more often now to get WR money and drive up the franchise tag amount that way.

Well I'm sure this won't bite the Saint's later when they try to resign him next year.

I'm really surprised too. PFF had a chart showing the amount of snaps he played was a WR, and it was pretty significant.

Any other team would have done the same thing. They would have went through the same exact process.

I think Graham had a pretty good argument but I'm not surprised the Saints won. If you come out of college as a TE, you're listed on the roster as a TE, you go to the Pro Bowl as a TE, you're listed in fantasy football as a TE, etc, then you're probably a TE.

Had no doubt Saints would win. Listed himself as TE on social media was hilarious. Congrats to Saints

I doubt it had anything to do with the ruling, but I found it curious that Graham left this in his Twitter profile for the duration of this process:

Doubt it stops him from trying to get top WR money in FA anyway. Someone will give it to him if the Saints don't

Same with Ebron. Hilarious because so many people said Detroit drafted a WR not a TE. Made my day really. Detroit needs all cap room they can get into future

Do people think Jimmy is playing this year on the tag? I'm still leaning towards they try to get him under contract.

Also, had Graham won, this would have set a bad precedent. For example, what if the LB tag is worth more than the DB tag? Then you got someone like Kam Chancellor saying, "Well, I spend most of my snaps in the box, which means I'm a LB." I like the decision that was made.

And Jordan Reed. I'm happy. Although Graham will appeal, I don't expect him to win.

Yeah, I would actually be shocked if that didn't play into it. He literally is a self described TE. I don't know how he can argue he's a WR when he considers himself a TE and openly calls himself a TE.
