The old thread was at 100 pages, so time to reboot.

Some of you seem very ready to take some theories as fact. GRRM has thrown too many curveballs for me to trust any theory completely, no matter how sound it is.

Leave the poor show watchers alone. They're so touchy. Just let them stew in their angst of Jon Snow getting Ollied. Sit back and enjoy the poutrage.

To continue on the discussion being had.

Euron is like the coolest character in the books we should all be excited he will be a main character. Plus his character is needed certainly to get Dany to Westeros.

I'm not so sure.

In the show Daario has already captured the Mereenese navy (93 ships - equal to the # Victarion brought with him initially). They'll likely be replacing the Iron Fleet in taking whomever is coming with ships already presented on the show.

It's not unimaginable, but I just have a feeling the show is skipping over any ties the Greyjoy's and Martell's have directly to Slaver's Bay and moving their stories forward.

Euron is obviously going to invade Oldtown, and I fail to see how he needs Victarion for his arc. My money is on the latter dying at Slaver's Bay anyways.

Yeah and I have a suspicion that in next weeks episode Jon is probably going to send Sam to Oldtown, maybe not to become a maester but to utilize their bigger library in light of what he saw at Hardhome.. maybe to become a maester though who knows! (he did mention it earlier in the season)

Just out of curiosity, has anyone purchased any of the companion books about the world of ice and fire? I found the world of ice and fire (the untold history of westeros) on clearance at tj maxx a few months ago and finally got around to looking at it some - have to say, I'm really impressed. Has given me a much better understanding of the Targaryen dynasty so far (that's all I've read) and has some solid artwork. Anyone else given any of these type of books a chance?

I'm still bummed that there probably won't be an Aegon Targaryen. He's primed to be such a HUGE player in the books.

I wonder if he will be the huge player, or the people surrounding him. Obviously, they are bringing pieces of his storyline into the show through other, already established people.

I don't mind saying that introducing Aegon, false or true, was an additional piece that really wasn't required in the books. I'm not disappointed he's not included in the show as I feel that he is somewhat superfluous in the story. That doesn't mean that his story couldn't be a boon to the overall story, but at this point, without knowing how it plays out, I'm not going to miss him much (it's the same with Quentyn, and yes, I do know the theories about Quentyn as well, but until I see that play out on page, I'm basically only rolling with what has been written).

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Greyjoys? My first read, I absolutely hated them. My second read, I paid a little more attention but still hate. Third read, I was just browsing the books and not reading full chapters. Fourth read, I'm on now and just started SoS.

You certainly aren't the only one.

I know I'm in the minority of folks who really enjoy getting a glimpse into the Iron Islands politics & culture which provide a stark difference to those of Westeros and the Free Cities. A lot of the political stuff seems to still hinge on post-Greyjoy rebellion bitterness.

I'm also an unapologetic Euron fanboy.

I both hate Victarion because of his stupidity, but can't help but pull for him a little because of his badassery and the douchbaginess of Euron. You just know the whole horn thing is going to completely backfire against him somehow.

Nope, I said it at the tail end of the other thread too. I have a little interest in Euron's backstory, but no real interest in the character himself. He sounds cool, but I have no attachment to him. I don't know if it was simply that they came to late to the party, or just their personality types not being ones that mesh very well with me. I simply don't care much about their story. Each time I have read the books, they have gotten a little easier to tolerate (the ironborn chapters, that is), but I'm still not even close to enjoying them.

Something just dawned on me in my reread. In Clash of Kings, Arya met the boy she was going to marry at Harrenhalll though neither knew it. He was crying because he wasn't going to marry the princess, like he was supposed to.

In Storm of Swords, at the beginning, Catelyn learns that Robb is at the Crag. Arya has a chapter right after that and they are on the run.

How is it possible that the kid at Harrenhall already knew he wasn't going to marry the princess? How did he find out before Robb was at the Crag? Was a plot happening between Bolton and Frey even before Robb married? Or am I over looking something?

I have been wanting to pick that up for a long time, I think this is finally that moment.

I was reading some reactions to the Hardhome episode of the show. The general show watching public is going to go nuts when Drogon tears up Daznak's pit, and then completely lose their **** when Jon gets Ollied the next episode.

I wonder if someone else eats the poisoned locusts since Strong Belwas was never cast, or if they just leave that out. And will Dany fly away on Drogon? There is no Barristan the Badass to keep things together in the meantime, though I suppose they could have Daario and Tyrion keeping order with the unsullied. I'm pretty sure Dany is about to take over that Khallasar in the books, so if I'm right, she'll sort of need to fly away from Mereen for an episode.

GRRM has said the chapters aren't in a purely linear timeline, so it could have jumped around a bit. I'm sure the Frey's knew immediately at the Krag and sent a raven back to the Twins too, so they may have known before the POV's could recount it.
